Although the majority of incarcerated individuals are younger, there is a growing population of aging adults within the prison setting. It has been recognized that most correctional facilities are not built to house older adults, which has led to constraints and challenges being placed on this population. Understanding how best to respond to older adults in correctional facilities has gained popularity among researchers and politicians. Humblet's book (2021) explores the effects prison life has on the aging generation. This book examines the concept of age and the benefits and challenges older adults in the prison setting face. Findings from his book can be used as foundational support for future research or informing prison policy.
