Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common acute leukemia in adults and has the highest fatality rate. Patients aged 65 and above exhibit the poorest prognosis, with a mere 30 % survival rate within one year. One important issue in optimizing outcomes for AML patients is their limited ability to predict responses to specific therapies, response duration, and likelihood of relapse.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are promising agents for treating antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. Although discovering novel AMPs is crucial for combating multidrug-resistant bacteria and biofilm-related infections, their clinical potential relies on precise, real-time evaluation of efficacy, toxicity, and mechanisms. Optical diffraction tomography (ODT), a label-free imaging technology, enables real-time visualization of bacterial morphological changes, membrane damage, and biofilm formation over time.

Given the number of occupational therapy doctorate (OTD) programs and graduates with professional doctoral degrees, the concept of practice scholarship is increasingly important. The scholarly work of occupational therapy practitioners guided by a research model is appropriate for those who have trained as researchers or OTD students and practitioners receiving mentorship from occupational therapy research scientists. Increasing healthcare costs, limited healthcare resources, an aging population, and lifestyle-related diseases make wound management a growing clinical, social, and economic burden. This case series investigated the use of a novel, biocompatible, polymer-based transforming powder dressing (TPD) that transforms in situ to a shape-retentive wound matrix upon hydration for treating wounds of various etiologies. In this institutional review board-approved single-center retrospective case series, the researchers evaluated various acute and chronic wounds treated with TPD over a period of 2 years.
