The title Si complex, CHNOSi, is built up by a tridentate dinegative Schiff base ligand bound to a sila-cyclo-hexane unit. The coordination geometry of the penta-coordinated Si atom is a distorted trigonal bipyramid. The presence of the sila-cyclo-hexane ring in the complex leads to an unusual coordination geometry of the Si atom with the N atom from the Schiff base ligand and an alkyl-C atom in apical positions of the trigonal bipyramid. There is a disorder of the methyl group at the imine bond with two orientations resolved for the H atoms [major orientation = 0.55 (3)]. In the crystal, C-H⋯O inter-actions are found within corrugated layers of mol-ecules parallel to the plane.

: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most challenging molecular subtype of breast cancer (BC) in clinical practice, associated with a worse prognosis due to limited treatment strategies and its insensitivity to conventional drugs. Zinc is an important trace element for homeostasis, and its Schiff base metal complexes have shown promise in treating advanced tumors. In this study, four new heteroleptic Zn(II) complexes (-) with Schiff bases were synthesized, characterized, and evaluated for their activity in BC cells.

Sulfonamide drugs were the original class of antibiotics, demonstrating the antibacterial potential of dithiocarbazate and thiosemicarbazone Schiff base derivatives of syringaldehyde and 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylbenzaldehyde. We synthesized unique Schiff bases via the condensation of the aldehydes with hydrazine derivatives, which allows for the easy synthesis of several related compounds. These Schiff base derivatives were tested for antileishmanial properties against the parasitic protozoan .

Background: Recently, pyrido[2,3-] pyrimidine, triazolopyrimidine, thiazolopyrimidine, quinoline, and pyrazole derivatives have gained attention due to their diverse biological activities, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, antitubercular, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral effects.

Objective: The synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds including 5-quinoline-pyrido[2,3-] pyrimidinone (-, , -), 6-quinoline-pyrido[2,3-]thiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidinone (, , -), 1,2,4-triazole-6-quinoline-pyrido[2,3-]thiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidinone (-), and pyrido[2,3-]thiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidine-ethyl-(pyridine)-9-thiaazabenzo[]azulenone () derivatives was performed with high yields while evaluating antimicrobial activities.

Methods: A new series of quinoline-pyrido[2,3-]thiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidine derivatives were prepared using a modern style and advanced technology, resulting in high yields of these new compounds.

The discriminative detection of volatile primary aliphatic diamines (VPADs) is a relevant and timely issue. This paper explores the distinctive optical features of H-type and J-type aggregates on paper-based (PB) films, namely H-PB and J-PB films, respectively, of a Lewis acidic Zn(salen)-type complex upon chemisorption of vapors of ditopic VPADs versus those of monotopic volatile amines. While volatile monotopic Lewis bases upon chemisorption give rise to mono-adducts accompanied by enhancement of the fluorescence, in contrast, VPADs act as ditopic bases forming di-adducts with distinct optical properties, leading to fluorescence quenching.

Organic compounds with 1,3-diketone or 3-amino enone functional groups are extremely important as they can be converted into a plethora of carbo- or heterocyclic derivatives or can be used as ligands in the formation of metal complexes. Here, we have achieved the preparation of a series of non-symmetrical β-ketoenamines (O,N,N proligand) of the type (4-MeOCH)C(=O)CH=C(R)NH(Q) obtained through the Schiff base condensation of 1,3-diketones (1-anisoylacetone, 1-anisyl-3-(4-cyanophenyl)-1,3-propanedione, and 1-anisyl-3-(4,4,4-trifluorotolyl)-1,3-propanedione) functionalized with electron donor and electron-withdrawing substituents and 8-aminoquinoline (R = CH, 4-CHCN, 4-CHCF; Q = CHN). Schiff base ketoimines with a pendant quinolyl moiety were isolated as single regioisomers in yields of 22-56% and characterized with FT-IR, H NMR, and UV-visible spectroscopy, as well as single-crystal X-ray crystallography, which allowed for the elucidation of the nature of the isolated regioisomers.
