Background: The subcellular localization of mRNA plays a crucial role in gene expression regulation and various cellular processes. However, existing wet lab techniques like RNA-FISH are usually time-consuming, labor-intensive, and limited to specific tissue types. Researchers have developed several computational methods to predict mRNA subcellular localization to address this.

Design of semi-open prosthetic socket with constant force for lower limb.

Prosthet Orthot Int

December 2024

School of Intelligent Rehabilitation Engineering, Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering and Technology, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai, China.

Background: Prosthetic socket is a key component of the prosthesis for clinical application; its performance directly affects the adaptation of the residual limb to the prosthetic socket. There are long-term and short-term volume fluctuation of the residual limb. The volume fluctuation of the residual limb will lead to the pressure mismatch at the interface of the residual limb and the prosthetic socket, which will cause a series of skin and fit problems.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HCT) is one of the principal curative approaches in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML); however, relapse post-transplantation remains a catastrophic event with poor prognosis. The incidence of relapse has remained unchanged over the last three decades despite an evolving understanding of the immunobiology of the graft-versus leukemia effect and the immune escape mechanisms that lead to post-HCT relapse. The approach to post-transplant relapse is highly individualized and is dictated both by disease biology and genomics as well as the patient's clinical status at the time of relapse and the interval between relapse and transplantation.

Atraumatic acute myelopathy caused by idiopathic disc herniation is rare. This case presents a 47-year-old male with a sudden onset of severe neck pain and weakness upon waking that progressively worsened. His rapidly progressive myelopathy led to an MRI of the cervical spine, revealing severe spinal canal stenosis at the C6-C7 level due to a large disc herniation deforming the spinal cord.
