Clytin II (CLII) is a Ca-binding photoprotein and has been identified as an isotype of clytin I (CLI). CLII consists of apoCLII (an apoprotein) and 2-peroxide of coelenterazine (an adduct of molecular oxygen to coelenterazine), which is identical to the widely used Ca-binding photoprotein, aequorin (AQ). However, CLII triggered by Ca exhibits a 4.5-fold higher maximum luminescence intensity (I) compared to both AQ and CLI, and it is approximately 5 times less sensitive to Ca than AQ. To confirm the suitability of the preferred human codon-optimized CLII (pCLII) gene for cell-based G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) assays, a transformant stably expressing apoprotein of pCLII using the pCLII gene in the mitochondria of CHO-K1 cells was established and in situ regenerated pCLII in the cells were applied to the high-throughput screening system. An ATP-stimulated GPCR assay for endogenous P2Y purinergic receptors was confirmed using the established stable transformant.

Importance: Cervical cancer screening is a crucial public health intervention, but screening disparities exist for women with physical disabilities (WWPD).
Objective: To explore the experiences of WWPD with both traditional speculum examination-based screening and at-home self-sampling for cervical cancer screening.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This qualitative study enrolled 56 WWPD to test self-sampling kits, provide feedback via a survey, and participate in a qualitative interview.

Introduction: Elbow ailments are common, but conventional treatment modalities have shortcomings, offering only interim pain relief rather than targeting the underlying pathophysiology. The last two decades have seen a marked increase in the use of autologous peripheral blood-derived orthobiologics (APBOs), such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), to manage elbow disorders. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the most widely used APBO, but its efficacy remains debatable.

Background: Multiple diseases, such as Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), present at adolescent age and the impact on quality of life (QoL) prolongs into adulthood. For the EQ-5D, a commonly used instrument to measure QoL, the current guideline is ambiguous whether the youth or adult version is to be preferred at adolescent age. To assess which is most suitable, this study tested for equivalence along predefined criteria of the youth (EQ-5D-5L) and adult (EQ-5D-Y-5L) version in an adolescent population receiving bracing therapy for AIS.

Macular degeneration (MD), which affects the central visual field including the fovea, has a profound impact on acuity and oculomotor control. We used a motion extrapolation task to investigate the contribution of various factors that potentially impact motion estimation, including the transient disappearance of the target into the scotoma, increased position uncertainty associated with eccentric target positions, and increased oculomotor noise due to the use of a non-foveal locus for fixation and for eye movements. Observers performed a perceptual baseball task where they judged whether the target would intersect or miss a rectangular region (the plate).

Cardiac Positron Emission Tomography (PET) can be used for the assessment of myocardial perfusion. Compared to other cardiac imaging techniques, notably Single Photon Emission Computer Tomography (SPECT), cardiac PET offers superior image resolution, higher accuracy, quantitative measures of myocardial perfusion, lower radiation exposure, and shorter image acquisition time. However, PET tends to be costlier and less widely available than SPECT due to the specialized equipment needed for generating the necessary radiotracers.
