Mass transfer governs the overall catalytic performance of heterogeneous catalysts considerably; however, this fundamental research has often been ignored. Here, macroporous SiO-supported Pt nanoparticle (Pt/SiO-M) and mesoporous SiO-supported Pt nanoparticle (Pt/SiO-m) catalysts were specifically fabricated by a facile thermal reduction step to engineer the resultant Pt nanoparticles showing similar physiochemical properties while possessing completely different porous microstructures exclusively originating from SiO supports. On this basis, a platform to explore the crucial mass transfer difference affecting catalytic activity is then established by systematically practicing industry-important benzene oxidation measurements.

Ganglioside-incorporating lipid nanoparticles as a polyethylene glycol-free mRNA delivery platform.

Incorporation of polyethylene glycol (PEG) is widely used in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation in order to achieve adequate stability due to its stealth properties. However, studies have detected the presence of anti-PEG neutralizing antibodies after PEGylated LNP treatment, which are associated with anaphylaxis, accelerated LNP clearance and premature release of cargo. Here, we report the development of LNPs incorporating ganglioside, a naturally occurring stealth lipid, as a PEG-free alternative.

Performance and emissions of diesel engine combustion lubricated with Jatropha bio-lubricant and MWCNT additive.

Sci Rep

Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, 576104, India.

Vegetable oil-based lubricants, modified through transesterification and epoxidation, present a sustainable alternative to mineral lubricants for transport and industrial use. This study evaluates epoxidized jatropha oil (EJA) enhanced with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) as a bio-lubricant for compression ignition engines. MWCNT, dispersed in EJA using an ultrasonic probe sonicator with Triton X-100 as a surfactant, was tested at nanoparticle concentrations from 0.

Wearable microneedle array (MNA) based electrochemical sensors have gained increasing attention for their capability to analyze biomarkers in the interstitial fluid (ISF), enabling noninvasive, continuous monitoring of health parameters. However, challenges such as nonspecific adsorption of biomolecules on the sensor surfaces and the risk of infection at the microneedle penetration sites hinder their practical application. Herein, a wearable dual-layer microneedle patch was prepared to overcome these issues by integrating an antimicrobial microneedle layer with an antifouling sensing layer.
