Purpose: This study aimed to examine the impact of different rest periods between short sprint interval training (SSIT) trials on the physiological and performance adaptations of female volleyball players.
Methods: Twenty-four trained college athletes volunteered to participate in this study and were randomly assigned to 3 SSIT groups with different work-to-rest ratios (1:2 [5-s run:10-s rest], 1:4 [5-s run:20-s rest], and 1:6 [5-s work:30-s rest]). Before and after 6-week training, physiological parameters (maximum oxygen uptake, first and second ventilatory thresholds, and peak and mean power output) and physical performance measures (ie, countermovement vertical jump, 10-m sprint, and T-test change-of-direction speed) were evaluated.

This study compared the capacity of two different models of HIIT [high-(HC) and low-(LC) compression], with or without the use of berberine (BBR), on NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing protein-3 (NLRP3), H19, interleukin (IL)-1β, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and insulin resistance markers. Fifty-four middle-aged men with overweight or obesity and prediabetes [fasting blood glucose (FBG) 110-180 mg/dL] were randomly and equally assigned to the HC, LC, HC + BBR, LC + BBR, BBR, and non-exercising control (CON) groups. The HC (2:1 work-to-rest) and LC (1:1 work-to-rest) home-based training programs included 2-4 sets of 8 exercises at 80%-95% HRmax, twice a week for 8 weeks.

Plyometric training is characterized by high-intensity exercise which is performed in short term efforts divided into sets. The purpose of the present study was twofold: first, to investigate the effects of three distinct plyometric exercise protocols, each with varying work-to-rest ratios, on muscle fatigue and recovery using an incline-plane training machine; and second, to assess the relationship between changes in lower limb muscle strength and power and the biochemical response to the three exercise variants employed. Forty-five adult males were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 15) performing an exercise of 60 rebounds on an incline-plane training machine.
