Few studies today address trans-operative analgesia provided by tramadol without local anesthetics for intra-abdominal procedures. The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of trans-operative analgesia provided by epidurally administered tramadol in cats undergoing elective ovariohysterectomy. For this purpose, 16 healthy queens were randomly assigned to participate in one of two groups: GC, control group, 0.

Swine are increasingly utilized in cardiovascular research due to their anatomical and physiological similarities to humans, particularly for studying diastolic dysfunction. While MRI offers excellent structural imaging, echocardiography provides superior real-time assessment of diastolic parameters. To address the lack of standardized methods and reduce variability across studies, we present a comprehensive guide for performing echocardiography in Yorkshire pigs, detailing anatomical considerations, equipment requirements, and technical approaches.

This study employed large eddy simulation (LES) with the wall-adapting local eddy-viscosity (WALE) model to investigate transitional flow characteristics in an idealized model of a healthy thoracic aorta. The OpenFOAM solver pimpleFoam was used to simulate blood flow as an incompressible Newtonian fluid, with the aortic walls treated as rigid boundaries. Simulations were conducted for 30 cardiac cycles and ensemble averaging was employed to ensure statistically reliable results.

Background: This study aimed to investigate whether changes in capillary refill (CR) time precede macrovascular signs of deterioration in a human model of blood loss shock. The study was conducted at the Department of Emergency Medicine in Linköping, Sweden, and involved 42 healthy volunteers aged 18-45. Participants were randomized into two provocations of applied lower body negative pressure (LBNP): a stepwise escalation protocol and a direct application protocol, to simulate gradual and acute blood loss.

This study evaluates the measurement accuracy of the Hanvon FY730 upper-arm blood pressure (BP) monitor, which uses the Korotkoff sound method, in compliance with the AAMI/ESH/ISO universal standard (ISO 81060-2:2018). A clinical trial involving 86 eligible adults was conducted, and data were analyzed based on standardized protocols. The mean differences between the device and reference measurements for systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were -0.
