The prokaryotic generic name Downes . 2002 is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of the plant genus Meisner 1840 and the mollusk genus Baker 1941 (Principle 2 and Rule 51b(5) of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes). We therefore propose the replacement generic name , with type species comb. nov. The prokaryotic generic name Maszenan . 2000 is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of Popofsky 1913 (Protozoa, Radiolaria) and of Górka 1965 (a fossil dinoflagellate) (Rule 51b(4) of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes). In humans, this protein family contains two paralogs, the ubiquitously expressed DMT1, which is involved in the uptake and distribution of Fe and Mn, and NRAMP1, which participates in the resistance against infections and nutrient recycling. The Añana Salt Valley (northern Spain) is a continental saltern consisting of a series of natural springs that have been used for salt production for at least 7000 years. This habitat has been relatively understudied; therefore, prokaryotic diversity was investigated through Illumina-based 16S rRNA gene sequencing to determine if the waters within the valley exhibit distinctive microbiological characteristics. Two main types of water were found in the valley: salty (approximately 200 g/L salinity) from the diapiric structure and brackish (≤ 20 g/L salinity) from shallow streams.
