High-risk factors and predictive models for hemorrhagic chronic radiation proctitis.

Eur J Med Res

January 2025

Department of Clinical Nutrition, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China.

Introduction: Hemorrhagic chronic radiation proctitis (CRP) is a common and challenging complication after pelvic radiation therapy. Identifying high-risk factors, predicting its occurrence, and optimizing radiotherapy plans are key to preventing hemorrhagic CRP. This study retrospectively examined potential risk factors and developed a nomogram to predict its onset.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of two free-breathing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences-spiral ultrashort echo time (spiral UTE) and radial volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination (radial VIBE).

Methods: Patients were prospectively enrolled between February 2021 and September 2022. All participants underwent both 3T MRI scanning, utilizing the radial VIBE sequence and spiral UTE sequence, as well as standard chest CT imaging.

Generation of high-resolution MPRAGE-like images from 3D head MRI localizer (AutoAlign Head) images using a deep learning-based model.

Jpn J Radiol

January 2025

Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, 54 Shogoin Kawahara-Cho, Sakyo-Ku, Kyoto, 606-8507, Japan.

Purpose: Magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo (MPRAGE) is a useful three-dimensional (3D) T1-weighted sequence, but is not a priority in routine brain examinations. We hypothesized that converting 3D MRI localizer (AutoAlign Head) images to MPRAGE-like images with deep learning (DL) would be beneficial for diagnosing and researching dementia and neurodegenerative diseases. We aimed to establish and evaluate a DL-based model for generating MPRAGE-like images from MRI localizers.

Introduction Mucormycosis is an uncommon fungal infection caused by filamentous fungi of the Mucorales order, namely Rhizopus, Lichthemia, andMucor species. The incidence and prevalence of mucormycosis reached an all-time high during the COVID-19 pandemic due to excessive steroid use and other factors, leading to the coining of the term CAM (COVID Associated Mucormycosis). The diagnosis of mucormycosis is by a combination of histopathology and microbiological techniques, such as KOH mount and culture.

Artificial intelligence (AI) in mammography screening has shown promise in retrospective evaluations, but few prospective studies exist. PRAIM is an observational, multicenter, real-world, noninferiority, implementation study comparing the performance of AI-supported double reading to standard double reading (without AI) among women (50-69 years old) undergoing organized mammography screening at 12 sites in Germany. Radiologists in this study voluntarily chose whether to use the AI system.
