A novel trimeric monoterpenoid indole alkaloid, vincarostine A (1) consisting of an aspidosperma-iboga-aspidosperma type skeleton, was isolated from the whole plant of Catharanthus roseus. The structure including absolute stereochemistry was elucidated on the basis of 2D NMR data and CD spectrum. Vincarostine A (1) showed anti-malarial activity.

Carvacrol is an aromatic monoterpenoid found in thyme oil. Due to its implications for human health, it is important to elucidate its structure and its intramolecular interactions. We have characterised the carvacrol monomer, its complex with water, its dimer, and even its trimer in a supersonic expansion using mass-resolved laser spectroscopy techniques complemented by quantum-chemical computations.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most prevalent age-related neurodegenerative disorders. Behavioral complexities worsen over time due to progressive dopaminergic (DArgic) neuronal loss at substantia nigra region of brain. Available treatments typically aim to increase dopamine (DA) levels at striatum.

Chemical investigation of the emblematic led to the discovery of trirosaline (), the first example of a tris-ajmalicine-type monoterpene indole alkaloid and the first natural trimeric MIA ever reported from this deeply dug plant species. Its structure was primarily elucidated based on NMR and HRESIMS analyses, and the nature of its unique intermonomeric linkages was firmly confirmed based on a combination of empirical computation and ML--DP4 study. Its absolute configuration was mitigated by comparison of experimental and TDDFT-simulated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra.

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formed through multiphase atmospheric chemistry makes up a large fraction of airborne particles. The chemical composition and molecular structures of SOA constituents vary between different emission sources and aging processes in the atmosphere, which complicates their identification. In this work, we employ drift tube ion mobility spectrometry with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (IM-MS) detection for rapid gas-phase separation and multidimensional characterization of isomers in two biogenic SOAs produced from ozonolysis of isomeric monoterpenes, d-limonene (LSOA) and α-pinene (PSOA).
