A porous organic polymer (POP) has been developed for dual-ion storage in all organic symmetric rechargeable batteries. The triphenylamine-pyrene-based POP could host sodium and hexafluorophosphate ions acting as the anode and the cathode, respectively, through the adsorption-intercalation and insertion mechanism. The current study highlights the concept of widening the potential window of a dual ion battery by judicious selection of the constituent moieties.

Air-conditioning systems, composed mainly of humidity control and heat reallocation units, play a pivotal role in upholding superior air quality and human well-being across diverse environments ranging from international space stations and pharmacies to granaries and cultural relic preservation sites, and to commercial and residential buildings. The adoption of sorbent water as the working pair and low-grade renewable or waste heat in adsorption-driven air-conditioning presents a state-of-the-art solution, notably for its energy efficiency and eco-friendliness vis-à-vis conventional electricity-driven vapor compression cycles. Here, we introduce a rational π-extension strategy to engineer an ultrarobust and highly porous zirconium metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF).

Although aqueous organic redox flow battery (RFBs) is a highly promising energy storage device, the redox reaction kinetics of the anode organic electrolyte material, especially for phenazine derivatives, are limited by low electrochemical activity of traditional porous carbon electrodes. Herein, Co/NC composite electrocatalyst was elaborated to significantly enhance the redox reaction kinetics of phenazine derivatives, in which Co/NC electrocatalyst could improve energy efficiency of aqueous phenazine RFBs by 43.2 % compared to pure carbon felt electrodes at current density of 100 mA/cm.

Crystalline membranes, represented by the metal-organic framework (MOF) with well-defined angstrom-sized apertures, have shown great potential for molecular separation. Nevertheless, it remains a challenge to separate small molecules with very similar molecular size differences due to angstrom-scale defects during membrane formation. Herein, a stepwise assembling strategy is reported for constructing MOF membranes with intrinsic angstrom-sized lattice aperture lattice to separate organic azeotropic mixtures separation.

The detection of 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid (CMPA) herbicide is crucial due to the potential health risks linked to exposure through drinking water, air, and food, which may adversely affect liver and kidney functions. To address this environmental concern and promote sustainable agriculture, a sensitive carbon paste sensor incorporating a composite material was developed. The composite sensor is based on porous cobalt-1,4-benzenedicarboxylate metal-organic framework and exfoliated montmorillonite nanolayers (Co-OF/MMt).
