Background: India has the highest global burden of human tuberculosis (TB) and the largest cattle herd with endemic bovine TB (bTB). However, the extent of cross-species transmission and the zoonotic spillover risk, including drug-resistant complex (MTBC) strains circulating in cattle, remain uncharacterized.

Methods: To address this major knowledge gap, we investigated tissue samples from 500 apparently healthy cattle at a slaughterhouse in Chennai, India.

Bovine tuberculosis is an important zoonotic infectious disease that presents a risk to human health, livestock, and wildlife. We report the complete genome sequence of a new strain that caused a bovine tuberculosis outbreak on a cattle farm in Saskatchewan, Canada, in 2023.

Tuberculosis is a zoonotic chronic respiratory infectious disease caused by the complex. The outbreak and epidemic of tuberculosis can seriously threaten human and veterinary health. To investigate the effects of environmental factors on tuberculosis in domestic ruminants, we collected data regarding the prevalence of tuberculosis in cattle, buffaloes, sheep, and goats in China (1956-2024) from publicly published literature and available databases.

Inter-city movement pattern of notifiable infectious diseases in China: a social network analysis.

Lancet Reg Health West Pac

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Pathogen and Biosecurity, Academy of Military Medical Science, Beijing, PR China.

Background: Co-existence of efficient transportation networks and geographic imbalance of medical resources greatly facilitated inter-city migration of patients of infectious diseases in China.

Methods: To characterize the migration patterns of major notifiable infectious diseases (NIDs) during 2016-2020 in China, we collected migratory cases, who had illness onset in one city but were diagnosed and reported in another, from the National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting System, and conducted a nationwide network analysis of migratory cases of major NIDs at the city (prefecture) level.

Findings: In total, 2,674,892 migratory cases of NIDs were reported in China during 2016-2020.
