Tuberculosis results from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. Immune responses controlled by Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) are closely associated with the host response to pathogens, including Mtb. NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated pyroptosis forms a significant part of the inflammatory response during Mtb infection, and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is implicated in the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome.

Daqu, the fermentation starter of Shanxi aged vinegar (a traditional Chinese cereal vinegar), is produced by natural fermentation of barley and/or peas under conditions of open environment. However, the succession of microbial communities and its effects on volatile compounds during Daqu maturation were still unclear, which are closely related to the flavor and quality of Shanxi aged vinegar. In this study, the dynamics of physicochemical properties, microbial communities, and volatile compounds and their inter-relationships during the production of Shanxi aged vinegar Daqu were investigated.

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Animal Diversity, College of Life Sciences, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin 300387, China.

The screening of cellulose-degrading microorganisms from herbivores and the optimization of fermentation conditions are of great significance for the utilization of cellulose resources. In this study, we initially employed a metagenomic analysis to investigate the fecal microbiota of both captive and semi-free-ranging Père David's deer () under varying environmental conditions. Subsequently, we isolated and cultured cellulase-degrading microorganisms from the fecal samples using Congo red medium.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent causes of cancer-related fatalities globally, and its development is closely associated with dietary and microbial factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of ganjang, a traditional fermented soy sauce, in alleviating colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) in a mouse model induced by azoxymethane/dextran sulfate sodium (AOM/DSS). The bacterial composition of ganjang samples from different regions primarily included spp.
