This paper reassesses the taxonomy and systematics of 11 arboreal snail species in the genus from Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Laos ( Wang, 2019, Fruhstorfer, 1905, Smith, 1893, Möllendorff, 1898, Möllendorff, 1900, Thach, 2020, Möllendorff, 1900, Thach, 2020, Möllendorff, 1900, Fulton, 1896, and Huber, 2015). The taxonomic validity of each species is supported by a phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial COI and 16S rRNA gene fragments from 17 ingroup taxa. was found to comprise two populations from two distant localities, one from Mount Singgalang, West Sumatra, Indonesia and the other from southern Vietnam. The samples from southern Vietnam were previously described as Haas, 1934 and Thach, 2016, but they are now treated as junior synonyms of in this study. In addition, two species from Vietnam are described as new to science, viz. Jirapatrasilp & Lee, and Jirapatrasilp & Lee, , each of which is conchologically comparable to and , respectively.

Nuclear speckles are membraneless organelles that associate with active transcription sites and participate in post-transcriptional mRNA processing. During the cell cycle, nuclear speckles dissolve following phosphorylation of their protein components. Here, we identify the PP1 family as the phosphatases that counteract kinase-mediated dissolution.

Mucus in the colon is crucial for intestinal homeostasis by forming a barrier that separates microbes from the epithelium. This is achieved by the structural arrangement of the major mucus proteins, such as MUC2 and FCGBP, both of which are comprised of several von Willebrand D domains (vWD) and assemblies. Numerous disulfide bonds stabilise these domains, and intermolecular bonds generate multimers of MUC2.

Background: Reporting on and monitoring epidemics is a public health priority. Several initiatives and platforms provide epidemiological data, such as the EM-DAT International Disaster Database, which has 1525 epidemics and their impact reported since 1900, including 892 epidemics between 2000 and 2023. However, EM-DAT has inconsistent coverage and deficiencies regarding the systematic monitoring of epidemics data due to the lack of a standardized methodology to define what will be included under an epidemic disaster.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) can have more pronounced effects on joint position sense (JPS) accuracy and gait characteristics. The aim of this study is to investigate the association between lower limb JPS and different aspects of gait pattern including gait asymmetry and variability and spatiotemporal coordination in individuals with bilateral KOA. In this cross-sectional study, lower limb JPS of 43 individuals with bilateral KOA (mild and moderate) were measured.

A new strategy is proposed for second-order data fusion based on the simultaneous modeling of two data sets using the multivariate curve resolution-alternating least-squares (MCR-ALS) model, applying a new constraint during the ALS stage, called "Proportionality of Scores". This approach allows for the fusion of data from different sources, without requiring common dimensionality, and enables the application of specific constraints to each data set. This strategy was applied to the determination of five pharmaceutical contaminants (naproxen, danofloxacin, ofloxacin, sarafloxacin, and enoxacin) in environmental water samples, by fusing two sets of excitation-emission fluorescence matrices, measured before and after photochemical derivatization.
