Objective: To assess and characterize online ratings and comments on laryngologists and determine factors that correlate with higher ratings.
Methods: All the American Laryngological Association (ALA) members were queried across several online platforms. Ratings were normalized for comparison on a five-point Likert scale. Ratings were categorized based on context and for positive/negative aspects.
Results: Of the 331 ALA members, 256 (77%) were rated on at least one online platform. Across all platforms, the average overall rating was 4.39 ± 0.61 (range: 1.00-5.00). Specific positive ratings including "bedside manners," "diagnostic accuracy," "adequate time spent with patient," "appropriate follow-up," and "physician timeliness" had significant positive correlations to overall ratings, by Pearson's correlation ( < 0.001). Long wait times had significant negative correlations to overall ratings ( < 0.001).
Conclusion: Online ratings and comments for laryngologists are significantly influenced by patient perceptions of bedside manner, physician competence, and time spent with the patient.

Biofortification enhances dietary quality and nutritional value using traditional marine microalga species, particularly docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which is an essential n-3 fatty acid for human health. Eggs are natural fortified candidates. This study aimed to investigate the effect of dietary Schizochytrium powder on egg productivity, egg nutritional content, and fatty acid levels in laying hens.

Background: Antisense oligonucleotides (AON) represent a promising treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) carrying out-of-frame deletions, but also show limitations. In a completed clinical trial golodirsen, approved by FDA to induce skipping of DMD gene exon 53 in eligible patients, we demonstrated increase in DMD expression and protein production, albeit with inter-patient variability.
Methods: Here, we investigate further the golodirsen mechanism of action using myotubes derived from MyoD transfected fibroblasts isolated from DMD patients at the baseline of the clinical trial SRP-4053.

Jasmonates are a family of oxylipin phytohormones regulating plant development and growth and mediating "defense versus growth" responses. The upstream JA biosynthetic precursor cis-(+)-12-oxo-phytodienoic acid (cis-OPDA) acts independently of CORONATIVE INSENSITIVE 1-mediated JA signaling in several stress-induced and developmental processes. However, its perception and metabolism are only partially understood.

: Acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) is a metabolic disease characterised by neurovisceral crises with episodes of acute abdominal pain alongside life-altering, and often hidden, chronic symptoms. The elimination of precipitating factors, hemin therapy, and pain relief are strategies used to treat porphyria symptoms, but are often reserved for patients suffering recurrent, acute attacks. Givosiran (siRNA) is an emerging AIP therapy capable of silencing delta-aminolevulinic acid synthase-1 (ALAS1) and, in turn, reducing the accumulation of delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and porphobilinogen (PBG) that precede porphyria symptoms.

Background/objectives: Due to concerns about drug resistance and side effects, the discovery of improved drugs for lung cancer has attracted studies to find an effective and safe treatment. Aminolevulinic acid-mediated photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) is a cancer treatment with minimal side effects. However, ALA-PDT effectiveness can be hindered by ABCG2 and ABCB1 transporters impeding PpIX accumulation.
