Introduction: Previous research usually focused on high-frequency crash clusters (surrounded by high-frequency crashes), which overlooked outlier locations where high-frequency crashes were surrounded by low-frequency crashes. Neglecting spatiotemporal outliers might overlook critical factors for safety improvements.
Methods: Using pedestrian-vehicle crash data in North Carolina from 2007 to 2019, this study proposes an enhanced spatiotemporal analysis framework (combined with Approximate Nearest Neighbour and the Global Moran I index) to distinguish spatiotemporal crash outliers from aggregated/dispersed patterns.

This study offers a comprehensive analysis of the Perturbed Schrödinger -Hirota Equation (PSHE), crucial for understanding soliton dynamics in modern optical communication systems. We extended the traditional Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation (NLSE) to include higher-order nonlinearities and spatiotemporal dispersion, capturing the complexities of light pulse propagation. Employing the modified auxiliary equation method and Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM), we derived a spectrum of exact traveling wave solutions, encompassing exponential, rational, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions.

Sediments are key reservoirs for rare bacterial biospheres that provide broad ecological services and resilience in riverine ecosystems. Compared with planktons, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the ecological differences between abundant and rare taxa in benthic bacteria along a large river. Here, we offer comprehensive insights into the spatiotemporal distributions, co-occurrence networks, and assembly processes of three divided categories namely always rare taxa (ART), conditionally rare taxa (CRT), and conditionally rare and abundant taxa (CRAT) in sediments covering a distance of 4,300 km in the Yangtze River.

The question of how changes in chemoattractant concentration translate into the chemotactic response of immune cells serves as a paradigm for the quantitative understanding of how cells perceive and process temporal and spatial information. Here, using a microfluidic approach, we analyzed the migration of neutrophil-like HL-60 cells to a traveling wave of the chemoattractants fMLP and leukotriene B4 (LTB4). We found that under a pulsatile wave that travels at a speed of 95 and 170 µm/min, cells move forward in the front of the wave but slow down and randomly orient at the back due to temporal decrease in the attractant concentration.
