Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) are promising sources of clean and renewable energy, but their performance and efficiency depend on an accurate modeling and identification of their system parameters. However, existing methods for PEMFC modeling suffer from drawbacks, such as slow convergence, high computational cost, and low accuracy. To address these challenges, this research work proposes an enhanced approach that combines a modified version of the SqueezeNet model, a deep learning architecture that reduces the number of parameters and computations, and a new optimization algorithm called the Modified Transient Search Optimization (MTSO) Algorithm, which improves the exploration and exploitation abilities of the search process. The proposed approach is applied to model the output voltage of the PEMFC under different operating conditions, and the results are compared with empirical data and two other state-of-the-art methods: Gated Recurrent Unit and Improved Manta Ray Foraging Optimization (GRU/IMRFO) and Grey Neural Network Model integrated with Particle Swarm Optimization (GNNM/PSO). The comparison shows that the proposed approach achieves the lowest Sum of Squared Errors (SSE) and the highest accuracy, demonstrating its superiority and effectiveness in PEMFC modeling. The proposed approach can facilitate the optimal design, control, and monitoring of PEMFC systems in various applications.

Half-metallic magnetism, characterized by metallic behavior in one spin direction and semiconducting or insulating behavior in the opposite spin direction, is an intriguing and highly useful physical property for advanced spintronics because it allows for the complete realization of 100% spin-polarized current. Particularly, half-metallic antiferromagnetism is recognized as an excellent candidate for the development of highly efficient spintronic devices due to its zero net magnetic moment combined with 100% spin polarization, which results in lower energy losses and eliminates stray magnetic fields compared to half-metallic ferromagnets. However, the synthesis and characterization of half-metallic antiferromagnets have not been reported until now as the theoretically proposed materials require a delicate and challenging approach to fabricate such complex compounds.

Health care decisions are increasingly informed by clinical decision support algorithms, but these algorithms may perpetuate or increase racial and ethnic disparities in access to and quality of health care. Further complicating the problem, clinical data often have missing or poor quality racial and ethnic information, which can lead to misleading assessments of algorithmic bias. We present novel statistical methods that allow for the use of probabilities of racial/ethnic group membership in assessments of algorithm performance and quantify the statistical bias that results from error in these imputed group probabilities.

Perovskite-based photodetectors (PDs) are broadly utilized in optical communication, non-destructive testing, and smart wearable devices due to their ability to convert light into electrical signals. However, toxicity and instability hold back their mass production and commercialization. The lead-free Cs2AgBiBr6 double perovskite film, promised to be an alternative, is fabricated by electrophoretic deposition (EPD), which compromises film quality.

Full-arch implant rehabilitation in extremely atrophic edentulous mandibles is still challenging due to the high risk of fracture and the limited bone availability. The approach proposes using short implants with immediate loading for final prostheses as a treatment option, which offers shorter treatment times and fewer invasive procedures. A 66-year-old female patient with an edentulous mandible and severe alveolar bone resorption was treated with four short implants in the interforaminal area.

The complexity of the currently registered dosing schedules for bedaquiline and delamanid is a barrier to uptake in drug-resistant tuberculosis treatment across all ages. A simpler once-daily dosing schedule is critical to ensure patient-friendly regimens with good adherence. We assessed expected drug exposures with proposed once-daily doses for adults and compared novel model-informed once-daily dosing strategies for children with current World Health Organization (WHO) recommended dosing.
