Study by chemical modification of Ser, Arg, His residues and sulfhydryl groups on bovine seryl-tRNA synthetase showed that Ser residues appeared to be unnecessary for the recognition mechanism, but Arg and His residues were essential. It was considered that different sulfhydryl groups related with each recognition of tRNA and ATP. Poly-arginine inhibited the interaction between serine tRNA and SerRS. The CD spectra of a mixture of serine tRNA and poly-arginine indicated that higher-order structure of tRNA changed. Furthermore, the Km and Vmax values of bovine serine isoacceptor, yeast serine tRNA and E. coli serine tRNA for bovine SerRS examined and it was discussed the differences of those base sequences.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the molecular response mechanisms of differential blood metabolites before and after 8 weeks of threshold and polarized training models using metabolomics technology combined with changes in athletic performance.
Methods: Twenty-four male rowers aged 14-16 were randomly divided into a THR group and a POL group (12 participants each). The THR group followed a threshold training model (72%, 24%, and 4% of training time in low-, moderate-, and high-intensity zones, respectively), while the POL group followed a polarized training model (78%, 8%, and 14% training-intensity distribution).

The tRNA methyltransferase 1 (TRMT1) enzyme catalyzes the N2,N2-dimethylguanosine (m2,2G) modification in tRNAs. Intriguingly, vertebrates encode an additional tRNA methyltransferase 1-like (TRMT1L) paralog. Here, we use a comprehensive tRNA sequencing approach to decipher targets of human TRMT1 and TRMT1L.

Cellulolytic flagellates are essential for the symbiotic digestion of lignocellulose in the gut of lower termites. Most species are associated with host-specific consortia of bacterial symbionts from various phyla. 16S rRNA-based diversity studies and taxon-specific fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed a termite-specific clade of Actinomycetales that colonise the cytoplasm of Trichonympha spp.

Whole genome codon compression-the reassignment of all instances of a specific codon to synonymous codons-can generate organisms capable of tolerating knockout of otherwise essential transfer RNAs (tRNAs). As a result, such knockout strains enable numerous unique applications, such as high-efficiency production of DNA encoding extremely toxic genes or non-canonical proteins. However, achieving stringent control over protein expression in these organisms remains challenging, particularly with proteins where incomplete repression results in deleterious phenotypes.

Tumors require ample protein synthesis to grow, and aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, as critical translation factors, are expected to support cancer progression. Unexpectedly, overexpression of seryl-tRNA synthetase (SerRS) suppresses primary tumor growth of breast cancer. However, the effects of SerRS on metastasis have not been studied.
