The purpose of the current research effort was two-fold: (a) determine what behaviors successful veteran job candidates perform during the job application process that distinguish them from less successful ones, and (b) identify the behaviors of successfully employed veterans that distinguish them from those that are less successful or unable to maintain civilian employment. To address these issues, a research initiative was undertaken by the City of Clarksville, TN; Montgomery County, TN; the Tennessee Department of Labor; and the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services. Researchers conducted a qualitative study in the environs of Nashville, TN and Clarksville, TN, where Fort Campbell a United States Army installation, is located. Hiring managers, human resource directors, and veteran employees at 10 private sector companies and 10 public sector organizations in the region participated in focus groups. In addition, spouses of transitioning veterans participated in focus groups. The results of this investigation involving over 300 people are described. Implications for practice are discussed and future directions for research have been presented.

In the field of medical science, skin segmentation has gained significant importance, particularly in dermatology and skin cancer research. This domain demands high precision in distinguishing critical regions (such as lesions or moles) from healthy skin in medical images. With growing technological advancements, deep learning models have emerged as indispensable tools in addressing these challenges.

Microwave surface and Lamb waves in a multilayered piezoelectric "Al-IDT/(AlSc)N/(001)[110] diamond" structure designed as a SAW resonator were studied using both the experimental and modeling methods. In this structure, it is possible to generate Rayleigh, surface horizontal (SH) and Lamb waves simultaneously. The successful excitation of Lamb waves at operating frequencies up to 20 GHz has been obtained.

The first shikimic acid derived fluorescent carbon dots (SACNDs-FITC) for multi-modal detection and simultaneous removal of Hg is revealed. The fluorescence of SACNDs-FITC centered at 520 nm can be selectively quenched by Hg, while the emission centered at 420 nm remains constant which can be used for self-calibration. Naked-eye distinguishable color change from yellow to colourless under daylight and from green to blue under UV light could be observed for SACNDs-FITC in the real-time detection of Hg.

A highly sensitive and selective electrochemical biosensor was developed for the detection of kanamycin using a core-hollow-shell structured peroxidase-mimic nanozyme, CHS-Fe₃O₄@@ZIF-8. The synthesized CHS-FeO@@ZIF-8 was characterized with scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was found that the CHS-FeO@@ZIF-8 exhibits excellent peroxidase-like activity due to its ultra-thin hollow layer.
