The precise mechanism of ferroptosis as a regulatory cell death in intestinal ischemia injury induced by vascular intestinal obstruction (Vio) remains to be elucidated. Here, we evaluated iron levels, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and Acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) changes after intestinal ischemia injury to validate ferroptosis. As an enzyme for Fe reduction to Fe, Ferric Chelate Reductase 1 (FRRS1) is involved in the electron transport chain and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle in mitochondria. However, whether it is involved in ferroptosis and its role in intestinal ischemia injury need to be clarified. In the present study, FRRS1 was overexpressed in vivo and in vitro. The results showed that overexpression of FRRS1 prevented ischemia-induced iron levels, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, lipid peroxidation, inflammatory responses, and cell death. Meanwhile, FRRS1 overexpression promoted GPX4 expression and suppressed ACSL4 levels. Further studies revealed that FRRS1 overexpression inhibited the activity of large tumor suppressor 1 (LATS1) / Yes-associated protein (YAP) / transcriptional co-activator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ), a key component of Hippo signaling. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that FRRS1 is intimately involved in the inhibition of ferroptosis and thus protection of the intestine from intestinal ischemia injury, its downstream mechanism was related to Hippo signaling. These data provide new sight for the prevention and treatment of intestinal ischemia injury.

A rare autopsy case of malignant transcription factor E3 (TFE3)-rearranged perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa)-like neoplasm is presented. An 84-year-old woman manifested multiple cerebral infarctions and repetitive embolic events in the supra mesenchymal artery (SMA), and the presence of a mobile mass in the heart's left ventricle was also revealed. Tumoral lesions were also found in a pelvic space and a right pleural cavity, and a biopsy was performed from one of the disseminated tumor masses in the right pleura.

The duodenal diverticulum is a relatively frequent entity whose diagnosis has been increased over time with the development of new diagnostic and exploratory techniques. Periampullary diverticula (PAD) were classified as type 1, 2, or 3 according to the position of the major papilla from the endoscopic view: type 1, the major papilla was located inside of the diverticula; type 2, the major papilla was located at the edge of the diverticula; type 3, the major papilla was located outside of the diverticula. Complications of duodenal diverticula include ulceration, bleeding, perforation and inflammation with intestinal obstruction.

Elevated inflammatory markers on blood tests and emergent computed tomography led to a diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia, and the patient passed away 7 h later. Skin mottling indicates decreased blood flow in the gastrointestinal tract and is observed during mesenteric ischemia.

Background: Fetal midgut volvulus is a rare disease, with a high risk of potentially life-threatening fetal complications.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze the imaging findings of fetal midgut volvulus diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and explore its value in non-invasive prenatal diagnosis.
Methods: A retrospective collection of data from 156 fetuses suspected of intestinal obstruction by ultrasound examination in our hospital was conducted.

Using autologous orthotopic liver transplantation (AOLT) model in rats, the effect of lipid reactive oxygen species (L-ROS) inhibitor Ferrostain-1 on ferroptosis signal pathway was observed to determine whether ferroptosis occurred in rat liver injury after cold ischemia-reperfusion (I/R). Thirty-two healthy adult SPF male SD rats, 8 ~ 10 weeks old, weight 240 ~ 260 g, were divided into four groups by the method of random number table (n = 8): sham group, I/R group, I/R + Fer-1 group, I/R + DFO group. In the I/R + Fer-1 group, ferristatin-1(5 mg /kg) was intraperitoneally injected 30 min before surgery; in the I/R + DFO group, DFO 100 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally 1 h before operation and 12 h after operation.
