Article Abstract

Dye application for parasite highlighting in the Ova and Parasite exam is a common practice in parasitology diagnosis. A scoping review investigated how staining solutions interact with parasite structures. After screening 1334 papers, 35 met eligibility criteria. Differentiating background from foreground in the fecal smear under light microscopy is the core of the research on this topic. Refractivity, unevenness of staining, size and temperature were explored to enhance staining protocols. spp. and Microsporidia were the main studied species. Studies on diagnostic efficacy outperform those that elucidate the physical-chemical interaction between dyes and parasites. An alternative approach involves technicians using computational tools to reduce subjectivity in fecal smear interpretation, deviating from conventional methods.

Background This scoping review aimed to identify literature describing allied health interventions used to address challenging behaviour for adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) living in community settings and identify the impact of these interventions on outcomes across the domains of behaviour, activity, and participation. Methods The Polyglot Search Translator for scoping reviews guided the search of six databases: (1) Ovid Medline®, (2) EmCARE (Ovid), (3) CINAHL Complete, (4) Embase (Ovid), (5) Scopus, and (6) Cochrane Library to identify literature published between 1990 and 2023. Results Of the 1748 records screened, 16 articles met the inclusion criteria.

Background: There is a common agreement that Alzheimer's disease (AD) is inherently complex; otherwise, a general disagreement remains on its etiological underpinning, with numerous alternative hypotheses having been proposed. Our objective was to perform a scoping review of original manuscripts describing hypotheses and theories of AD published in past decades.
