We share our experience of organizing a one-day virtual educational event, the first Canadian national student ophthalmology conference, in response to the need for ophthalmology career exploration. The conference included mentorship with residents, research presentations, keynote speakers, and more. Following the event, students expressed some improvement in accessing ophthalmology mentorship and research opportunities, along with a modest enhancement in their understanding of the specialty. We provide insights into the organizational framework and quality improvement results, aiming to assist students in adapting similar events for various specialities.

Introduction: Effective decision-making in ball games requires the ability to convert positional information from a first-person perspective into a bird's-eye view. To address this need, we developed a virtual reality (VR)-based training system designed to enhance spatial cognition.
Methods: Using a head-mounted virtual reality display, participants engaged in tasks where they tracked multiple moving objects in a virtual space and reproduced their positions from a bird's-eye perspective.

This Perspective summarizes successful fragment-to-lead (F2L) studies that were published in 2023 and is the ninth installment in an annual series. A tabulated summary of the relevant articles published in 2023 is provided (17 entries from 16 articles), and a comparison of the target classes, screening methods, and overall fragment or lead property trends for 2023 examples and for the combined entries over the years 2015-2023 is discussed. In addition, we identify several trends and innovations in the 2023 literature that promise to further increase the success of fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD), particularly in the areas of NMR and virtual screening, fragment library design, and fragment linking.

Young Black women in the southern US face a high HIV burden. While daily oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) can effectively prevent HIV, its use is low among Black women. The acceptability of and perceived intention to use emerging PrEP products among young Black women in the southern US are not well understood.
