Computed tomography dataset virtual dissection for sternal re-entry in congenital cardiac surgery.

Indian J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg

February 2025

Department of Paediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, Rao Saheb, Achutrao Patwardhan Marg, Four Bungalows, Andheri West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400053 India.

Unlabelled: In congenital heart surgery, redo-sternotomies are very common. In most cases, sternal re-entry is achieved without serious complications. However, sometimes elective institution of peripheral cardiopulmonary bypass is needed for safe sternotomy, albeit with a long cardio-pulmonary bypass time.

Background: Frozen shoulder (FS) is a debilitating inflammatory condition affecting the shoulder capsule that causes significant pain and stiffness. Its etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment remain poorly understood. Although regarded as self-limiting, FS can have profound implications on the activities of daily living and usually takes 1-4 years to resolve on its own accord.

Introduction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR) is the gold standard for treating ACL injuries, particularly in soccer players who are at a high risk of knee injury. While professional athletes often return to sport (RTS) within 7-10 months after ACLR, non-elite players experience significant delays. There is a need to investigate neuromuscular deficits and functional asymmetries in the non-elite group, which may persist even after clearance for RTS.

Ultrahigh-voltage potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) with cost competitiveness represent a viable route towards high energy battery systems. Nevertheless, rapid capacity decay with poor Coulombic efficiencies remains intractable, mainly attributed to interfacial instability from aggressive potassium metal anodes and cathodes. Additionally, high reactivity of K metal and flammable electrolytes pose severe safety hazards.

Functional alignment in robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty for valgus deformity achieves safe coronal alignment and excellent short-term outcomes.

Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc

January 2025

Orthopaedics Surgery and Sports Medicine Department, FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, Croix Rousse Hospital, Hospices Civils de Lyon, Lyon North University Hospital, Lyon, France.

Purpose: Functional alignment (FA) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) prioritizes soft tissue balancing and anatomical restoration without systematic correction to neutral alignment. Most studies have focused on varus deformity, with little evidence available about FA in valgus deformity. The hypothesis of the present study was that FA in robotic-assisted TKA for valgus deformity would demonstrate correction of the coronal alignment and yield satisfactory short-term outcomes.
