Objective: Loop ligation of the appendix is a challenging surgical skill and well suited to be trained in a simulator. We aimed to develop an affordable and easy-to-build simulator and test its training effect.

Design And Participants: Different materials were tested, and the best training modality was identified by researching the literature. The developed simulator training was tested on 20 surgical novices.

Results: A video was produced including an instruction on how to build the simulator and a step-by-step tuition on how to ligate the appendix. The Peyton approach was utilized to guide learners. Training with the simulator leads to reliable skill acquisition. All participants improved significantly in completing the task successfully during the structured learning.

Conclusion: We succeeded in developing a simulator for loop ligation of the appendix during laparoscopic appendectomy. Participants significantly improve in handling the loops. The transferability of the skill learned during simulation to the operating room will be subject of a follow-up study.

Unlabelled: are facultative intracellular bacterial pathogens that cause foodborne disease in humans. The bacteria can use the surface protein InlA to invade intestinal epithelial cells or transcytose across M cells in the gut, but it is not well understood how the bacteria traffic from the underlying lamina propria to the draining mesenteric lymph nodes (MLN). Previous studies indicated that associated with both monocytes and dendritic cells in the intestinal lamina propria.

Metastasis is complex and insidious type of disease involves multiple signaling nexus, which have implications in understanding disease pathogenesis. Treatment failure for metastatic cancer is frequently high due to aggressive adaptation of cancerous cells to invade to neighboring organs. Cytoskeleton intermediate filamentous protein Vimentin and scaffolding protein Neural precursor cell expressed Developmentally Down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD9) play a key role in metastatic events by regulating multiple metastatic events.

Article Synopsis
  • N-methyladenosine (mA) is a common RNA modification that significantly impacts various biological processes and human health, but its functions are not fully understood due to difficulties in measuring it accurately.* -
  • The study developed a new technique that enhances the ability to distinguish between mA and regular adenosine (A) by up to 265 times, using a combination of polymerase and ligase selectivity methods.* -
  • This innovative assay employs ligation-based loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) to achieve extremely high sensitivity, enabling the detection of RNA at concentrations as low as 40 aM and allowing for precise quantification of mA at a single nucleotide level.*

The prebiotic formation of RNA building blocks is well-supported experimentally, yet the emergence of sequence- and structure-specific RNA oligomers is generally attributed to biological selection via Darwinian evolution rather than prebiotic chemical selectivity. In this study, we used deep sequencing to investigate the partitioning of randomized RNA overhangs into ligated products by either splinted ligation or loop-closing ligation. Comprehensive sequence-reactivity profiles revealed that loop-closing ligation preferentially yields hairpin structures with loop sequences UNNG, CNNG, and GNNA (where N represents A, C, G, or U) under competing conditions.

Introduction: Considering the effective treatment of postpartum hemorrhage, intrauterine balloon tamponed can apply pressure from the inside of the uterus, and uterine compression suture can apply pressure from the outside of the uterus. Although combining the two methods can enhance the effectiveness of hemostasis, there is a paucity of studies reporting on outcome. The aim of this study was to report a surgical protocol for postpartum hemorrhage by intrauterine balloon tamponing combined with mid-section loop ligation and its subsequent effects on the uterus.
