Microgrid systems have evolved based on renewable energies including wind, solar, and hydrogen to make the satisfaction of loads far from the main grid more flexible and controllable using both island- and grid-connected modes. Albeit microgrids can gain beneficial results in cost and energy schedules once operating in grid-connected mode, such systems are vulnerable to malicious attacks from the viewpoint of cybersecurity. With this in mind, this paper explores a novel advanced attack model named the false transferred data injection (FTDI) attack aiming to manipulatively alter the power flowing from the microgrid to the upstream grid to raise voltage usability probability.

IUPHAR review: Drug Repurposing in Schizophrenia - An Updated Review of Clinical Trials.

Pharmacol Res

January 2025

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. Electronic address:

There is an urgent need for mechanistically novel and more efficacious treatments for schizophrenia, especially those targeting negative and cognitive symptoms with a more favorable side-effect profile. Drug repurposing-the process of identifying new therapeutic uses for already approved compounds-offers a promising approach to overcoming the lengthy, costly, and high-risk process of traditional CNS drug discovery. This review aims to update our previous findings on the clinical drug repurposing pipeline in schizophrenia.

Determining the level of consciousness in patients with brain injury-and more fundamentally, establishing what they can experience-is ethically and clinically impactful. Patient behaviors may unreliably reflect their level of consciousness: a subset of unresponsive patients demonstrate covert consciousness by willfully modulating their brain activity to commands through fMRI or EEG. However, current paradigms for assessing covert consciousness remain fundamentally limited because they are insensitive, rely on imperfect assumptions of functional neuroanatomy, and do not reflect the spectrum of conscious experience.

Objective: Tinnitus and its pathophysiological mechanisms need more investigation because tinnitus may change the typical processing of sounds in the auditory system. Poor temporal resolution, which is not assessed with conventional subjective tinnitus evaluations, has been reported in some tinnitus sufferers.

Design: This study used a gap-in-noise paradigm to assess temporal resolution in tinnitus sufferers using both behavioural and electrophysiologic methods.

Building the Future of Clinical Diagnostics: An Analysis of Potential Benefits and Current Barriers in CRISPR/Cas Diagnostics.

ACS Synth Biol

January 2025

BIOS Lab on a Chip Group, MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, Technical Medical Centre, Max Planck Institute for Complex Fluid Dynamics, University of Twente, P.O. Box 217, 7500 AE Enschede, The Netherlands.

Advancements in molecular diagnostics, such as polymerase chain reaction and next-generation sequencing, have revolutionized disease management and prognosis. Despite these advancements in molecular diagnostics, the field faces challenges due to high operational costs and the need for sophisticated equipment and highly trained personnel besides having several technical limitations. The emergent field of CRISPR/Cas sensing technology is showing promise as a new paradigm in clinical diagnostics, although widespread clinical adoption remains limited.
