A series of proof-of-concept models of polyoxomolybdates with different protonated disubstituted aniline counterions and the same β-MoO polyanion were synthesized to study the mechanism governing the formation of the intermolecular charge transfer (inter-CT) band.

CO mineralization, a process where CO reacts with minerals to form stable carbonates, presents a sustainable approach for CO sequestration and mitigation of global warming. While the crucial role of water in regulating CO mineralization efficiency is widely acknowledged, a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms remains elusive. This study employs a combined experimental and atomistic simulation approach to elucidate the intricate mechanisms governing moisture-driven carbonation kinetics of calcium-bearing minerals.

Energy transfer processes in nanohybrids are at the focal point of conceptualizing, designing, and realizing novel energy-harvesting systems featuring nanocrystals that absorb photons and transfer their energy unidirectionally to surface-immobilized functional dyes. Importantly, the functionality of these dyes defines the ultimate application. Herein, CsPbBr perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are interfaced with zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) dyes featuring carboxylic acid.

The proteasome degrades most superfluous and damaged proteins, and its decline is associated with many diseases. As the proteolytic unit, the 20 proteasome is assembled from 28 subunits assisted by chaperones PAC1/2/3/4 and POMP; then, it undergoes the maturation process, in which the proteolytic sites are activated and the assembly chaperones are cleared. However, mechanisms governing the maturation remain elusive.

Hedgehog (Hh) morphogen governs embryonic development and tissue homeostasis through the Ci/Gli family transcription factors. Here we report that Hh induces phase separation of the fused (Fu)/Ulk family kinases to allosterically regulate Ci/Gli. We find that Hh-induced phosphorylation of Fu/Ulk3 promotes SUMOylation of their inverted phosphorylation-dependent SUMOylation motifs.

CD24, a highly sialylated glycosyl-phosphatidyl-inositol (GPI) cell surface protein that interacts with sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectins (Siglecs), serves as an innate immune checkpoint and plays a crucial role in inflammatory diseases and tumor progression. Recently, cytoplasmic CD24 has been observed in samples from patients with cancer. However, whether sialylation governs the subcellular localization of CD24 in cancer remains unclear, and the impact of CD24 expression and localization on the clinical prognosis of cancer remains controversial.
