Background: Kirschner wires or pins were widely used for osteosynthesis in trauma surgery. Breakage of osteosynthesis material and intra-thoracic migration is a complication that has occasionally been described. We reviewed the literature to study the frequency and pathophysiology of such migrations.

Straightforward genotyping can provide timely diagnostic information for diseases prevention and treatment. Taking advantages of speediness and convenience, although numerous genotyping strategies combined loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and lateral flow have been reported to satisfy the demand of point-of-care test, the false positive result caused by aerosol and primer dimer as an innate conflict seriously limits their practical application. In this study, both aerosol and primer dimer as extrinsic and intrinsic inducements respectively are first broken through at one stroke based on an integrated immunochromatographic biosensor.

This Points to Remember column discusses the differential diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries, one example of which is Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. In the case presented below, the diagnosis of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy was based on the characteristic appearance of the left ventricular apical bulging, normal coronary arteries, and the resolution of the wall motion abnormalities within a relatively short period of time.

Over the last decades, various tissue-clearing techniques have broken the ground for the optical imaging of whole organs and whole-organisms, providing complete representative data sets of three-dimensional biological structures. Along with advancements in this field, the development of fluorescent markers for staining vessels and capillaries has offered insights into the complexity of vascular networks and their impact on disease progression. Here we describe the use of a modified water-soluble chitosan linked to cyanine dyes in combination with ethyl cinnamate-based optical tissue clearing for the 3D visualization of tissue vasculature in depth.
