Background: Pulmonary large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) is a rare subtype of breast cancer with a poor prognosis. Despite its rarity, it is important to gain a better understanding of the epidemiological, clinical, and prognostic features of pulmonary LCNEC. The purpose of this study was to design, construct, and validate a new nomogram for predicting overall survival (OS) in patients with pulmonary LCNEC.

Methods: In total, the data of 1,864 LCNEC patients were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, which is maintained by the National Cancer Institute in the United States and serves as a comprehensive source of cancer-related information. Of these patients, 556 served as the validation group and 1,308 served as the training cohort. We constructed a new nomogram with the training cohort that included the independent factors for OS as identified by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression. Five independent factors were ultimately selected by the stepwise regression. Every factor of the Cox regression was included in the nomogram. Analyses of the calibration curve, decision curve, area under the curve, and concordance index (C-index) values were performed to assess the effectiveness and discriminative ability of the nomogram.

Results: Five optimal predictive factors for OS were selected and merged to construct a 3- and 5-year OS nomogram. The nomogram had C-index values of 0.716 and 0.708 in the training cohort and validation cohort, respectively. The actual OS rates and the calibration curves showing the predictions of the nomogram were in good agreement.

Conclusions: The prognostic nomogram may be very helpful in estimating the OS of patients with pulmonary LCNEC.

A common digestive system cancer with a dismal prognosis and a high death rate globally is breast cancer (BRCA). BRCA recurrence, metastasis, and medication resistance are all significantly impacted by cancer stem cells (CSCs). However, the relationship between CSCs and the tumor microenvironment in BRCA individuals remains unknown, and this information is critically needed.

The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may predict outcomes in end-stage liver disease, but its value after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is unclear. This study explored the link between NLR and long-term outcomes in decompensated cirrhosis patients post-TIPS. We retrospectively analyzed 184 patients treated between January 2016 and December 2021, noting demographic data, lab results, and follow-up outcomes, including liver transplantation or death.

Real-world data on treatment outcomes or the quality of large-scale chronic hepatitis B (CHB) treatment programs in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is extremely difficult to obtain. In this study, we aimed to provide data on the prevalence and incidence of mortality, loss to follow-up (LFTU), and their associated factors in patients with CHB in three treatment centres in Eritrea. Additional information includes baseline clinical profiles of CHB patients initiated on nucleos(t)ide analogue (NUCs) along with a comparison of treatment with Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) vs.

Background: The Bahçeşehir population-based mammography screening program (BMSP) is an example of Türkiye's first population-based screening program. This study aims to reveal the successful implementation of population-based secreening program in one of the low- and middle-income countries, Türkiye and long-term results of patients diagnosed with breast cancer during BMSP.

Methods: This study was conducted between 2009 and 2019, in the Bahçeşehir county of Istanbul.

Objective: Secondary sclerosing cholangitis (SSC) represents a disease with a poor prognosis increasingly diagnosed in clinical settings. Notably, SSC in critically ill patients (SSC-CIP) is the most frequent cause. Variables associated with worse prognosis remain unclear.
