AI Article Synopsis

  • A phytochemical study of the green walnut husks from Maxim. led to the discovery of three new triterpenoids, named juglansmanoids A-C.
  • The structures of these compounds were determined using advanced techniques like NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
  • The triterpenoids showed strong anti-hyaluronidase activity, being three times more effective than the control drug oleanolic acid.

Article Abstract

Phytochemical study on 90% ethanol extract from the green walnut husks of Maxim. resulted into the isolation of three undescribed triterpenoids, juglansmanoids A-C (-). Structural elucidation of all the compounds were performed by spectral methods such as 1D and 2D (H-H COSY, HMQC, and HMBC) NMR spectroscopy, in addition to high resolution mass spectrometry. The isolated components were evaluated for anti-hyaluronidase activities. As a result, triterpenoid exhibited potent anti-hyaluronidase activity (IC = 9.78 μg/ml) three times more than the positive control drug oleanolic acid (IC = 40.12 μg/ml).

This study aimed to compare the effects of two extraction techniques (conventional n-hexane and supercritical CO) on the oil extraction yields, fatty acids profile, anti-hyaluronidase activity, oxidative stability, and in vitro bioactivities of oils from Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia volubilis). Higher oil extraction yield (99 %) was achieved using the SC-CO, although similar fatty acids profiles were depicted between both treatments (p < 0.05).
