Noise Health
January 2025
Department of Pain, Qingdao Municipal Hospital, Qingdao, China.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationship between occupational noise exposure and renal dysfunction in male workers.
Methods: A total of 160 male workers (the number of people who met the inclusion criteria) who underwent health examinations in Qingdao Municipal Hospital from January 2023 to December 2023 were grouped into a noise group (80 cases) and a control group (80 cases) based on whether they engaged in noise work. We compared the differences in creatinine (CREA), cystatin C (CysC) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels between the two groups.

Case-only designs in longitudinal cohorts are a valuable resource for identifying disease-relevant genes, pathways, and novel targets influencing disease progression. This is particularly relevant in Alzheimer's disease (AD), where longitudinal cohorts measure disease "progression," defined by rate of cognitive decline. Few of the identified drug targets for AD have been clinically tractable, and phenotypic heterogeneity is an obstacle to both clinical research and basic science.

Background: While most thyroid nodules are benign, 7-15% are malignant. Patients with indeterminate thyroid nodules (specifically Bethesda IV/Thy3f) often undergo diagnostic hemithyroidectomy to reach a diagnosis on final histology. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of circulating large extracellular vesicles as diagnostic biomarkers in patients presenting with Thy3f thyroid nodules.

Drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome (DIES), little known due to its recent description, is analogous to food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES). Both processes are more frequent in pediatric age and share diagnostic criteria, the main one being the appearance of persistent vomiting 1-4 hours after ingestion of the drug or food, in the absence of IgE-mediated allergy symptoms.
