Resting state electroencephalography (EEG) has proved useful in studying electrophysiological changes in neurodegenerative diseases. In many neuropathologies, microstate analysis of the eyes-closed (EC) scalp EEG is a robust and highly reproducible technique for assessing topological changes with high temporal resolution. However, scalp EEG microstate maps tend to underestimate the non-occipital or non-alpha-band networks, which can also be used to detect neuropathological changes.

Introduction: The incidence of Legionnaires' disease (LD) steadily increases worldwide. Although Legionella pneumophila is known as pathogenic, systematic investigations into antibiotic resistance are scarce, and reports of resistance in isolates are recently emerging.
Methods: Clinical cases and metadata reported to the Belgian National Reference Centre between 2011 and 2022 were retrospectively analysed.

Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common infections worldwide, particularly in developing countries. It also is among the most prevalent nosocomial infections, largely due to the widespread use of urinary catheters in hospitalized patients. These catheters often act as reservoirs for multidrug-resistant bacteria, including extended-spectrum beta-lactamase- and carbapenemase-producing pathogens, which significantly limit treatment options and delay appropriate care.
