Background: The overlap of imaging manifestations among distinct splenic lesions gives rise to a diagnostic dilemma. Consequently, a definitive diagnosis primarily relies on histological results. The ultrasound (US)-guided coaxial core needle biopsy (CNB) not only procures sufficient tissue to help clarify the diagnosis, but reduces the incidence of puncture-related complications.
Case Summary: A 41-year-old female, with a history of pulmonary tuberculosis, was admitted to our hospital with multiple indeterminate splenic lesions. Gray-scale ultrasonography demonstrated splenomegaly with numerous well-defined hypoechoic masses. Abdominal contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) showed an enlarged spleen with multiple irregular-shaped, peripherally enhancing, hypodense lesions. Positron emission CT revealed numerous abnormal hyperglycemia foci. These imaging findings strongly indicated the possibility of infectious disease as the primary concern, with neoplastic lesions requiring exclusion. To obtain the precise pathological diagnosis, the US-guided coaxial CNB of the spleen was carried out. The patient did not express any discomfort during the procedure.
Conclusion: Percutaneous US-guided coaxial CNB is an excellent and safe option for obtaining precise splenic tissue samples, as it significantly enhances sample yield for exact pathological analysis with minimum trauma to the spleen parenchyma and surrounding tissue.

Objectives: Implementation of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for abdominal imaging in children has challenges due to motion artifacts exacerbated by long acquisition times. We aimed to compare acquisition time and image quality between conventional DWI and multi-band (MB) DWI of the liver in children and young adults.
Methods: Clinical MRI exams from May 2023 to January 2024 were reviewed, including four DWI sequences: respiratory-triggered (RTr, clinical standard), free-breathing (FB), MB-DWI with shift factor 1 (MBsf1), and MB-DWI with shift factor 2 (MBsf2).
Introduction: The late autumn epizootic of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) subtype H5N1 in Serbia in 2023 caused massive mortality in the migratory population of common cranes (). This is the first time HPAIV has been identified in the common crane in Serbia, leading to mass mortality of this bird species.
Methods: To understand the pathological impact of HPAIV in cranes, we evaluated the pathological changes in the tissues of common cranes.

Fibrovascular polyps are rare, pedunculated, tumor-like lesions usually found in the esophagus. Their occurrence in the stomach is exceedingly rare. In the literature review, several case reports documented fibrovascular polyps developing in the stomach.

In cats, mycobacteriosis tends to present in a syndromic manner, with cases either being due to tuberculosis (TB) (in countries where TB is endemic), one of the "leprosy-like" diseases affecting the skin and subcutis, panniculitis caused by infection of subcutaneous tissues generally with rapidly growing Mycobacteria spp. or widely disseminated granulomatous disease, which is usually caused by members of the Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC). Disseminated MAC disease is rare, but when it occurs, usually develops in immunocompromised hosts with defective cell-mediated immunity.

Coccidiosis, infection with protozoan parasites of genus Eimeria, is a major problem in poultry husbandry world-wide. The disease is currently managed by coccidiostats and live vaccines, but these approaches are not sustainable. Hence, it is important to identify new means to control the infection and/or ameliorate its detrimental effects on gut health.
