Background: Thinning of retinal thickness seen on optical coherence tomography (OCT) is frequent in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). We explored the association between OCT metrics, MRI measurements and clinical outcomes in NMOSD.
Methods: 44 NMOSD and 60 controls underwent OCT and MR imaging.

Schwannomas are benign, slow-growing tumors originating from the Schwann cells of nerve sheaths. Extracranial schwannomas are rare, particularly in pediatric populations. Here, we report the case of a hypoglossal schwannoma in a 15-year-old male who experienced tongue paresthesia and fasciculations and difficulty swallowing two years before hospital admission.

Neuromuscular ultrasound has become an integral part of the diagnostic workup of neuromuscular diseases in neurology. Neuromuscular ultrasound can detect nerve enlargement, selective muscle damage, and fasciculation easily and non-invasively, which allows differentiation between auto-immune/inflammatory and degenerative/hereditary diseases. It is significant and essential for all neurologists to master the neuromuscular ultrasound technique.
