The establishment of modern biliary surgery system, alongside pivotal scientific paradigm shifts, has heralded a new era featured by precision, personalization, life-cycle care, and multidisciplinary management in the treatment of both benign and malignant biliary diseases. However, two formidable challenges persist in haunting the treatment of biliary diseases: (1) The refinement of surgical techniques has reached a plateau in reducing the disability associated with benign biliary conditions and in improving survival outcomes in biliary tract cancers; (2) Traditional evidence-based clinical studies have shown limited power in addressing complex dilemmas, such as determining whether to excise or preserve pathological gallbladders or selecting the optimal biliary drainage strategy. Consequently, the authors propose the conceptual framework of "biliary ecosystem".

Time to reframe the disease staging system for type 1 diabetes.

We offer a new model of the sensemaking process for data analysis and visualization. Whereas past sensemaking models have been grounded in positivist assumptions about the nature of knowledge, we reframe data sensemaking in critical, humanistic terms by approaching it through an interpretivist lens. Our three-phase process model uses the analogy of an iceberg, where data is the visible tip of underlying schemas.

Background: Many nurses join the profession because they have altruistic intentions, but some nurses experience barriers to acting on altruistic intentions which may be a source of job dissatisfaction or burnout.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate construct validity, internal consistency, and convergence reliability of the Nursing Altruistic Execution Scale (NAES), a novel instrument assessing the perceived ability to help others through work.

Methods: The NAES was developed based upon a literature review examining altruistic behavior as a motivator for nursing work, with expert feedback for instrument refinement.
