In this study, we investigated the antimicrobial susceptibility and molecular characteristics of antimicrobial resistance of strains isolated from the bloodstream using whole-genome sequencing. Clinical isolates identified as and showing colistin resistance at the time of detection were collected. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined using the VITEK2 system (bioMérieux) and Sensititre system (Thermo Fisher Scientific). Species identification and antimicrobial resistance gene searches were performed through whole-genome sequencing. Through whole-genome sequencing, three colistin-resistant strains from the bloodstream were identified as . All three strains were resistant to two or more antimicrobial agents except for colistin, and two of them were resistant to carbapenems. Genes involved in aminoglycoside [Ⅱ, Ⅰ, , Ⅱ, Ⅵ], macrolide (, ), carbapenem and cephalosporin (, ), fluoroquinolone and tetracycline (), and sulfonamide (, ) resistance were detected. We report multidrug-resistant strains isolated from the bloodstream through whole-genome sequencing. Two strains carried carbapenemase genes, and this is the first report of VIM-2-producing .

infections pose significant public health challenges worldwide. The diversity of strains, particularly those isolated from environmental and clinical sources, necessitates innovative approaches to prevention and treatment. Previous research has shown that small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) produced by macrophages during Typhimurium infection can induce robust immune responses when used as a vaccine, offering complete protection in systemic infection models.

January 2025

Veterinary Population Medicine Department and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota 55108, USA.

Bovine papillomaviruses (BPVs) commonly cause sarcoids in equines worldwide. Equine sarcoids (ESs) reduce the working ability of draft animals and produce untoward cosmetic changes in racing and dancing equine. In this study, nine horses and 16 donkeys with sarcoids were presented to Zagazig University Veterinary Clinic, Zagazig, Egypt.

is a well-known opportunistic pathogen, responsible for various nosocomial infections. UOL-KIMZ-24 was previously isolated from a clinical specimen, collected from Lahore General Hospital, Lahore (LGH), Pakistan, dated 3rd March, 2022. During the initial screening for antimicrobial susceptibility, the UOL-KIMZ-24 was found a multiple drug resistant (MDR) strain.
