Relation between dysbiosis and inborn errors of immunity.

World J Methodol

December 2024

Department of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, Sakarya University, Medical Faculty, Adapazarı 54100, Sakarya, Türkiye.

Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) disorders, formerly primary immune deficiency diseases, are a heterogeneous group of disorders with variable hereditary transitions, clinical manifestations, complications and varying disease severity. Many of the clinical symptoms, signs and complications in IEI patients can be attributed to inflammatory and immune dysregulatory processes due to loss of microbial diversity (dysbiosis). For example, in common variable immunodeficiency patients, the diversity of bacteria, but not fungi, in the gut microbiota has been found to be reduced and significantly altered.

Antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP) by monocytes and macrophages contributes significantly to the efficacy of many therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), including anti-CD20 rituximab (RTX) targeting CD20 B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL). However, ADCP is constrained by various immune checkpoints, notably the anti-phagocytic CD47 molecule, necessitating strategies to overcome this resistance. We have previously shown that the IgG2 isotype of RTX induces CD20-mediated apoptosis in B-cell lymphoma cells and, when combined with RTX-IgG1 or RTX-IgG3 mAbs, can significantly enhance Fc receptor-mediated phagocytosis.

Peritoneal fluid microbiota profile of patients with deep endometriosis.

Microb Pathog

December 2024

Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Av. Albert Einstein 627, Morumbi, São Paulo, 05651-901, Brazil; Departamento de Obstetricia e Ginecologia, Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease that affects 10% of reproductive-aged women and characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. The disease is linked to a pro-inflammatory environment in the peritoneal fluid of patients, with high levels of cytokines, growth factors, and reactive oxygen species. Changes in the peritoneal fluid, such as altered immune cells and cytokines, can be linked to the immune balance in endometriosis.

December 2024

BRIC-National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad 500032, Telangana, India; BRIC- Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad- 121001, Haryana, India. Electronic address:

Endosulfan (Ed), a widely used organochlorine pesticide, is classified as a persistent organic pollutant (POP). Its long half-life, resistance to degradation, and bioaccumulation in the food chain contaminates soil, water, and air. Such widespread environmental damage triggers monitoring its levels for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protecting public health.
