Purpose: In glioblastoma, the therapeutically intractable and resistant phenotypes can be derived from glioma stem cells, which often have different underlying mechanisms from non-stem glioma cells. Aberrant signaling across the EGFR-PTEN-AKT-mTOR pathways have been shown as common drivers of glioblastoma. Revealing the inter and intra-cellular heterogeneity within glioma stem cell populations in relations to signaling patterns through these pathways may be key to precision diagnostic and therapeutic targeting of these cells.

Fibrinogen-related domain (FReD) containing proteins are an evolutionarily conserved immune gene family characterized by the C-terminal fibrinogen (FBG) and diverse N-terminal domains. To understand the complexity of this family in crustaceans, we performed genome screening and identified 43 full-length FReDs encoding genes in Litopenaeus vannamei. Structural classification analysis revealed these putative FReDs could be divided into six types, including two reported types (LvFReDI and II) and four new types (LvFReDIII-VI).

The SUMO-targeted ubiquitin ligase (STUbL) family is involved in multiple cellular processes via a wide range of mechanisms to maintain genome stability. One of the evolutionarily conserved functions of STUbL is to promote changes in the nuclear positioning of DNA lesions, targeting them to the nuclear periphery. In Schizossacharomyces pombe, the STUbL Slx8 is a regulator of SUMOylated proteins and promotes replication stress tolerance by counteracting the toxicity of SUMO conjugates.

Objectives: Opioid-associated fatal and non-fatal overdose rates continue to rise. Prehospital overdose education and naloxone distribution (OEND) programs are attractive harm-reduction strategies, as patients who are not transported by EMS after receiving naloxone have limited access to other interventions. This narrative summary describes our experiences with prehospital implementation of evidence-based OEND practices across Ohio as part of the HEALing Communities Study (HCS).

However, despite known correlations between white matter integrity and cognition, less is known about how disruptions to white matter during the development of AD underpin cognitive impairment. This study tests the associations between disruptions to white matter along the AD clinical continuum (cognitive unimpaired (CU): cognitive impaired (CI) - Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and AD) and cognition using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and multi-tissue neurite and orientation dispersion and density imaging (mtNODDI) models of the multi-shell connectome diffusion MRI (ms-dMRI) data from the Alzheimer's Disease Connectome Project (ADCP).
