Chinese yam polysaccharide (CYP) is an effective immunostimulant, however, its efficacy in grass carp, an important commercial fish species in Asia, remains untested. Here, our study evaluated the immunostimulatory effects of CYP on IgM B cells in vitro and on humoral immunity and immune defense against Aeromonas hydrophila infection in vivo. In vitro stimulation experiments showed that CYP could induce the secretion of IgM antibodies, because it could stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of head kidney IgM B cells.

Background/objectives: The impact of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 on the immunity of patients with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) is still not fully known. Further clarification could help address medical concerns related to the use of immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory medications, known as disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), in PwMS, as well as ensure adequate protection against severe outcomes of COVID-19. Therefore, the aim of our study was to evaluate the humoral and cellular immune response in PwMS treated with DMTs.

Developing a novel and potent adjuvant with excellent biocompatibility for immune response augmentation is crucial for enhancing vaccine efficacy. Here, we prepared a stable PLGA nanoparticle by encapsulating MnCl/Salvia miltiorrhiza polysaccharide (MS-PLGA) and employed it as an adjuvant in the model antigen OVA (MS-PLGA-OVA) to elicit potent immunity. The biological experiments indicated that the MS-PLGA-OVA could effectively recruit APCs to the injection site and provoke long-term antibodies.

The increasing prevalence of nanoplastics (NPs) in the environment, particularly polystyrene (PS) nanoparticles, raises concerns regarding their potential impact on human and animal health. Given their small size, NPs can cross biological barriers and accumulate in organs, including those critical for immune functions. This study investigates the effects of short-term oral exposure to 100 and 500 nm PS NPs on the adaptive immune responses during viral infections in vivo, using vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) and lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) as models.
