The United States Supreme Court decision on the case of abolished federal protections of abortion, leaving abortion legislation at the discretion of individual states. Trafficked persons are a population especially vulnerable to the impacts of this ruling. Because there is no existing literature describing the effects of restrictive abortion legislation on this group, we described some of the potential consequences of restrictive abortion laws for sex and labor trafficked persons, based on real case examples. We describe steps that should be taken to sufficiently protect and support pregnant trafficked women in relation to the law.

Endosomes play a pivotal role in cellular biology, orchestrating processes such as endocytosis, molecular trafficking, signal transduction, and recycling of cellular materials. This study aims to construct an endosome-related gene (ERG)-derived risk signature for breast cancer prognosis. Transcriptomic and clinical data were retrieved from The Cancer Genome Atlas and the University of California Santa Cruz databases to build and validate the model.

Melatonin attenuates BDE-209-caused spatial memory deficits in juvenile rats through NMDAR-CaMKⅡγ-mediated synapse-to-nucleus signaling.

Food Chem Toxicol

January 2025

Department of Occupational and Environmental Health, School of Public Health, Jinzhou Medical University, Jinzhou, Liaoning, PR China. Electronic address:

Flame retardant polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) accumulate in human bodies through food and dust ingestion, and cause neurobehavioral deficits with obscure mechanism. We aimed to investigate NMDAR-CaMKⅡγ-mediated synapse-to-nuclear communication involved in BDE-209-induced cognitive impairment, and alleviation from exogenous melatonin. Decreased NMDAR subunits GluN2A and 2B, autophosphorylation of CaMKⅡα, and postsynaptic GluA1 trafficking were observed in the hippocampus of juvenile rats after maternal BDE-209 exposure.

Generation and heterozygous repair of human iPSC lines from two individuals with the neurodevelopmental disorder, TRAPPC4 deficiency.

Stem Cell Res

December 2024

Murdoch Children's Research Institute, Parkville, Victoria, Australia; Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria, Australia. Electronic address:

A rare neurodevelopmental disorder has been linked to a well-conserved splice site variant in the TRAPPC4 gene (c.454 + 3A > G), which causes mis-splicing of TRAPPC4 transcripts and reduced levels of TRAPPC4 protein. Patients present with severe progressive neurological symptoms including seizures, microcephaly, intellectual disability and facial dysmorphism.

The heterodimeric Rab3GAP complex is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the Rab18 GTPase that regulates lipid droplet metabolism, ER-to-Golgi trafficking, secretion, and autophagy. Why both subunits of Rab3GAP are required for Rab18 GEF activity and the molecular basis of how Rab3GAP engages and activates its cognate substrate are unknown. Here we show that human Rab3GAP is conformationally flexible and potentially autoinhibited by the C-terminal domain of its Rab3GAP2 subunit.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of female sex workers in the Kandapara Brothel in Tangail to build a better understanding of their lived perspective.

Design: This qualitative study was based on the philosophical underpinnings of Giorgi's descriptive phenomenological philosophy.

Methods: A purposive, convenience sample of 24 participants (N = 24) was recruited in the brothel, sufficient for data saturation.
