The wall-to-lumen ratio (WLR) of retinal blood vessels promises a sensitive marker for the physiological assessment of eye conditions. However, measurement of vessel wall thickness and lumen diameter is still technically challenging, hindering the wide application of WLR in research and clinical settings. In this study, we demonstrate the feasibility of using optical coherence tomography (OCT) as one practical method for quantification of WLR in the retina. Based on three-dimensional vessel tracing, lateral and axial B-scan profiles of individual vessels were constructed. By employing adaptive depth segmentation that adjusts to the individual positions of each blood vessel for OCT projection, the vessel wall thickness and lumen diameter could be reliably quantified. A comparative study of control and 5xFAD mice confirmed WLR as a sensitive marker of the eye condition.

To deeply investigate the mechanism of ferroptosis-related genes in the process of bone nonunion based on the GEO database. And using Mendelian randomization to explore the causal association of 15 trace elements with the occurrence of bone nonunion. Bone nonunion RNA-seq data were retrieved and downloaded from the GEO database.

Background: The objective of this study was to comprehensively review the literature on Shear Wave Elastography (SWE), a non-invasive imaging technique prevalent in medical ultrasound. SWE is instrumental in assessing superficial glandular tissues, abdominal organs, tendons, joints, carotid vessels, and peripheral nerve tissues, among others. By employing bibliometric analysis, we aimed to encapsulate the scholarly contributions over the past two decades, identifying key research areas and tracing the evolutionary trajectory of SWE.

Best current practice in the analysis of dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE)-MRI is to employ a voxel-by-voxel model selection from a hierarchy of nested models. This nested model selection (NMS) assumes that the observed time-trace of contrast-agent (CA) concentration within a voxel, corresponds to a singular physiologically nested model. However, admixtures of different models may exist within a voxel's CA time-trace.

Notably, the C-X-C Motif Chemokine Ligand 12/C-X-C Chemokine Receptor Type 4 (CXCL12/CXCR4) signalling pathway's activation is markedly increased in a mouse model of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). Nonetheless, the precise contribution of this pathway to AAA development remains to be elucidated. The AAA mouse model was induced by local incubation with elastase and oral administration of β-aminopropionitrile.

In the Iron Age, the Neo-Assyrian empire (c. 900-600 BC) conquered territory across southwest Asia and established regional capitals along its borders to secure its gains. Governors at these centers oversaw resource extraction and craft production for shipment to the imperial heartland in modern-day northern Iraq.
