Duke Clinical Research Institute, Duke University, Durham, NC, USA.
Background: ALERTS was a pivotal randomized clinical trial (RCT) evaluating an intracardiac monitor with real-time alerting in high-risk acute coronary syndrome patients. The cost-effectiveness however is unknown.
Method: A decision model estimated health effects and costs of implanting a Guardian device in a target patient population, compared to current standard-of-care (SOC).
Previous studies have suggested that systemic viral infections may increase risks of dementia. Whether this holds true for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus infections is unknown. Determining this is important for anticipating the potential future incidence of dementia.

Background: Approximately 5% of very premature infants delivered at less than 30 weeks' gestation have systemic hypertension. In adult human and animal models, intermittent hypoxemia events are associated with systemic hypertension. In neonates, intermittent hypoxemia events are associated with adverse outcomes, but it is unknown if they are a risk factor for hypertension.

Introduction: Integrated vascular surgery residency and traditional fellowship training paradigms offer two unique pathways to independent vascular surgery practice and board eligibility. Although operative case requirements are equivalent in each, it is unknown whether operative competence achieved by graduates is comparable between paradigms. We sought to examine operative performance and autonomy achieved between vascular integrated residents (VIR) and vascular surgery fellows (VSF) in their final year of training.

Growing epidemiological studies indicate a significant fraction of asthma cases can be attributed to traffic-related air pollution (TRAP). Zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandates-one of the most forward-looking climate policies in the United States-aim to reduce TRAP by mandating automakers to sell a certain fraction of Electric Vehicles (EVs) annually; however, their public health benefits are largely unknown. We conduct the screening step of the health impact assessment (HIA) of real-world EV sales to estimate the impact of ZEV mandates in reducing childhood asthma.
