With the advent of commercial DNA databases, investigative genetic genealogy (IGG) has emerged as a powerful forensic tool, rivalling the impact of STR analyses, introduced four decades ago. IGG has been frequently applied in the US and tested in other countries, but never in Norway. Here, we apply IGG to three cold criminal cases and successfully identify the donor of the DNA in two of these cases.

Here, we share our brand-new lab's experience with inter-institutional variability that led to the discovery that a protocol optimized for murine lung dissociation at Boston University (BU) fails to reproduce similar CD4 T cell, CD8 T cell, and B cell outcomes at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (U-M).

Objectives: It is uncertain what the effects of introducing digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) in the Dutch breast cancer screening programme would be on detection, recall, and interval cancers (ICs), while reading times are expected to increase. Therefore, an investigation into the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of DBT screening while optimising reading is required.
Materials And Methods: The Screening Tomosynthesis trial with advanced REAding Methods (STREAM) aims to include 17,275 women (age 50-72 years) eligible for breast cancer screening in the Netherlands for two biennial DBT screening rounds to determine the short-, medium-, and long-term effects and acceptability of DBT screening and identify an optimised strategy for reading DBT.

Importance: Heterogeneity in development of estrogen receptor (ER)-specific first primary breast cancer exists due to deleterious germline variants in moderate- to high-penetrance breast cancer susceptibility genes, but it is unknown if these associations occur in ER-specific CBC.
Objective: To determine the association of deleterious germline variants in breast cancer susceptibility genes with ER-specific CBC development and whether ER status of the first primary breast cancer modifies these associations.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This case-control study included CBC cases and matched unilateral breast cancer controls from The Women's Environment, Cancer, and Radiation Epidemiology (WECARE) Study, a population-based case-control study.
Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) has been associated with neurocognitive, metabolic, and neuroinflammatory alterations. Currently, there are no useful biomarkers in low-resource countries, and genetic risk/protection factors in Peruvians are unknown.
Objective: To establish the first serum bank in the northern part of the country for the analysis of participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or AD.
