Herein, we present the investigation of the visible light transparency and optical limiting characteristics of one dimensional photonic crystals with LiNbO defects fabricated by the sputtering technique. Transmission spectroscopy measurements reveal a broad photonic band gap with a 1064 nm defect mode and high transmittance within the visible range. The optical energy limiting performance in the photonic crystal can be attributed to the strong confinement of the optical field surrounding the LiNbO defect layer. The low energy 1064 nm laser demonstrates a transmittance of 82.15%. Notably, the optical limiting threshold is lower at 62.03 mJ cm in comparison with conventional optical limiting materials. Additionally, the optical limiter achieves a transmittance of 68.57% within the visible light band.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia. Insulin signaling dysfunction exacerbates tau protein phosphorylation, a hallmark of AD pathology. However, the comprehensive impact of diabetes on patterns of AD-related phosphoprotein in the human brain remains underexplored.

Visible light photocatalysts hold great promise for water purification, yet research on highly efficient, non-toxic photocatalysts is limited. This study synthesized novel g-CN/AlOOH photocatalytic nanocomposites via thermal condensation, enhancing adsorption and visible light degradation by 36-fold and 11-fold, respectively, compared to g-CN alone. The nanocomposites achieved a 98% removal rate of methyl orange under xenon lamp irradiation (>400 nm) for 1 hour.

A biohydrogen and polyhydroxyalkanoates(PHA)-producing natural photoheterotrophic mixed culture composed mainly by Rhodopseudomonas palustris and Clostridium sp was studied by a proteomic analysis under non-growth conditions (nitrogen-absence and organic acids). Proteins in C. pasteurianum were upregulated, particularly those related to stress response.

Despite osteoarthritis (OA) being recognised for over a century as a debilitating disease that affects millions, there are huge gaps in our understanding of the underlying pathophysiology that drives this disease. Present day studies that focussed on ubiquitination (Ub) and ubiquitylation-like (Ubl) modification related mechanisms have brought light into the possibility of attenuating OA development by targeting these specific proteins in chondrocytes. In the present review, we discuss recent advances in studies involving Ub ligases and deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) which are of importance in the development of OA, and may offer potential therapeutic strategies for OA.

Amphetamine (AMPH) abuse represents a major global public health issue, highlighting the urgent need for effective therapeutic interventions to manage addiction caused by this psychostimulant. This study aimed to assess the potential of m-trifluoromethyl-diphenyldiselenide [(m-CF-PhSe)] in preventing the addictive effects induced by AMPH through targeting dopamine metabolism proteins. (m-CF-PhSe) is of interest due to its demonstrated efficacy in mitigating opioid abuse, establishing it as a promising candidate for addiction treatment research.
