The development of new catalysts with high N activation ability is an effective approach for low-temperature ammonia synthesis. Herein, we report a novel angstrom-size molybdenum metal cluster catalyst for efficient ammonia synthesis. This catalyst is prepared by the impregnation of a molybdenum halide cluster complex with an octahedral Mo metal core on HY zeolite, followed by the removal of all the halide ligands by activation with hydrogen. In this activation, the size of the Mo cluster ( 7 Å) is almost retained. The resulting angstrom-size cluster shows catalytic activity for ammonia synthesis from N and H, and the reaction proceeds continuously even at 200 °C under 5.0 MPa. DFT calculations suggest that N[triple bond, length as m-dash]N bond cleavage is promoted by the cooperation of the multiple molybdenum sites.

Low-temperature direct ammonia fuel cell (DAFC) stands out as a more secure technology than the hydrogen fuel cell system, while there is still a lack of elegant bottom-up synthesis procedures for efficient ammonia oxidation reaction (AOR) electrocatalysts. The widely accepted d-band center, even with consideration of the d-band width, usually fails to describe variations in AOR reactivity in many practical conditions, and a more accurate activity descriptor is necessary for a less empirical synthesis path. Herein, the upper d-band edge, ε, derived from the d-band model, is identified as an effective descriptor for accurately establishing the descriptor-activity relationship.

Medicinal plants often harbour various endophytic actinomycetia, which are well known for their potent antimicrobial properties and plant growth-promoting traits. In this study, we isolated an endophytic actinomycetia, A13, from the leaves of tea clone P312 from the MEG Tea Estate, Meghalaya, India. The isolate A13 was identified as Streptomyces sp.

Background: An imbalance between the production and clearance of amyloid beta (Aß) has emerged as a major cause of sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD). Retinal wholemount studies can identify cell-specific involvement in Aß clearance mechanisms which cannot be accomplished in the brain ex vivo.
Methods: Eye cross-sections of double transgenic (Tg, APP-PS1) and non-carrier sibling female mice (n = 16, 4 per group) at 3- and 9- month ages were probed with antibodies 6E10 (Aβ1-16 amino-acid residues, soluble and insoluble species), ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 (IBA1, microglia/macrophage), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP, astrocytes), glutamine synthetase (GS, Müller cells) and aquaporin-4 (AQP4, membrane water channel) using immunofluorescence.

The point of our study was to examine the interaction of ammonia-N poisoning and salinity on serum enzymes and oxidative stress factors of blood and liver in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The 50% lethal concentration (LC) in 96 h was 0.86 mg/L of ammonia-N.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is stratified into four consensus molecular subtypes (CMS1-4). CMS3 represents the metabolic subtype, but its wiring remains largely undefined. To identify the underlying tumorigenesis of CMS3, organoids derived from 16 genetically engineered mouse models are analyzed.
