Hourglass, a compass navigating global and regional heterogeneity of pancreatic cancer.

Published: May 2024

Advances in the digital pathology field have facilitated the characterization of histology samples for both clinical and preclinical research. However, uncovering subtle correlations between bioimaging, clinical and molecular parameters requires extensive statistical analysis. As a user-friendly software, Hourglass, simplifies multiparametric dataset analysis through intuitive data visualization and statistical tools. Systemic analysis of interleukin-6 (IL-6)/pStat3 signaling pathway through Hourglass revealed differences in regional immune cell composition within tumors. Moreover, these regional disparities were partially mediated by sex. Overall, Hourglass simplifies information extraction from complex datasets, resolving overlooked regional and global spatial tumor differences. © 2024 The Authors. The efficient utilization of food waste (FW) resources through Food Waste Valorization (FWV) has received increasing attention in recent years. Various decision-making studies have been undertaken to facilitate FWV implementation, such as the studies on decision-making framework and FWV technology assessment. Food waste hierarchy is a widely discussed framework in FW management, but it was found too simplified and does not always contribute positively to environmental sustainability.

Membranes: A Variety of Energy Landscapes for Many Transfer Opportunities.

Membranes (Basel)

February 2018

Laboratoire de Génie Chimique, Université de Toulouse, CNRS, INPT, UPS, 31062 Toulouse, France.

A membrane can be represented by an energy landscape that solutes or colloids must cross. A model accounting for the momentum and the mass balances in the membrane energy landscape establishes a new way of writing for the Darcy law. The counter-pressure in the Darcy law is no longer written as the result of an osmotic pressure difference but rather as a function of colloid-membrane interactions.

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of chlorhexidine (CHX) addition in different concentrations into simplified etch-and-rinse adhesives on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), water sorption (WS), solubility (SO) and the rate of CHX release over time.

Methods: We added CHX diacetate to Ambar [AM] (FGM) and XP Bond [XP] (Dentsply) in concentrations of 0, 0.01, 0.

Purpose: To evaluate the radiopacity, ultimate tensile strength (UTS), microhardness (KHN), degree of conversion (DC), water sorption (WS) and solubility (SL) of experimental adhesives.

Materials And Methods: Five experimental adhesives with different concentrations of barium-borosilicate oxide microfillers [0% (R0), 30% (R30), 40% (R40), 50% (R50), 60% (R60)] were formulated based on the adhesive system Ambar (FGM). The adhesive Adper Single Bond 2 (SB, 3M ESPE) was used as commercial reference.
