Nylon 514 is one of the new long-chain bio-based nylon materials; its raw material, 1,5-pentanediamine (PDA), is prepared by biological techniques, using biomass as the raw material. The high-performance monomer of nylon 514, 1,5-pentanediamine-tetradecanedioate (PDA-TDA) salt, was obtained through efficient crystallization methods. Here, two crystal forms of PDA-TDA, anhydrous and dihydrate, were identified and studied in this paper. From the characterization data, their crystal structures and thermal behaviors were investigated. Lattice energy was calculated to gain further insight into the relationship between thermal stability and crystal structures. The contribution of hydrogen bonds and other intermolecular interactions to the crystal structure stability have been quantified according to detailed Hirshfeld and IRI analyses. Additionally, the transformation mechanism of the anhydrate and dihydrate was established through a series of well-designed stability experiments, in which the temperature and water activity play a significant role in the structural stability of crystalline forms. Eventually, we obtained nylon 514 products with good thermal stability and low absorption using stable dihydrate powders as monomers. The properties of nylon 514 products prepared by different polymerization methods were also compared.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water requires sufficient removal due to their extreme chemical stability and potential health risk. Membrane separation can be a promising strategy, while membranes with conventional structures used for PFAS removal often face challenges such as limited efficiency and stability. In this study, a novel metal-organic framework (MOF) membrane with local modification of polyamide (PA) was developed by introducing interfacial polymerization process during the construction of lamellar membranes with MOF nanosheets.

Gastrointestinal (GI) parasites in small ruminants, especially goats and sheep, have caused significant socio-economic and public health challenges worldwide. The aim of the present study was to investigate the diversity and prevalence of GI parasites in goats and sheep in Jiangsu, Shaanxi and Hunan provinces of China, and to assess whether the age of animals, sampling season and feeding mode influence the distribution and infection of GI parasites. A total of 1,081 fecal samples collected from goats ( = 835) and sheep ( = 246) were detected by saturated saline flotation technique and nylon sifter elutriation and sieving method for eggs/oocysts, respectively.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and the influence on cerebral blood supply of waggle needling Yanglingquan (GB34) on spastic paresis (SP) rats after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) induced and investigate its mechanism of relieving neurobehavior deficiency.
Methods: SP rat model was produced by permanent MCAO. Rats were divided into five groups: blank control group (Control), sham operation group (Sham), model group (Model), waggle needling group (WN) and perpendicular needling group (PN).

Given the environmental burden of textile industry, especially of dyeing processes and the volume of synthetic dyes and surfactants, the intensive development of the greener approaches is under way. Herein, an environmentaly-friendly dyeing of polyamide (PA) and PA/Elastane (PA/EA) knits using live bacterial approach in water environment, completely eliminating usage of textile auxiliaries is described. A total of 12 pigment-producing Streptomyces strains were isolated and purified from soil and rizoshere or bark of smoke tree Cotinus coggygria samples.
