Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterised by an increased number of monoclonal immunoglobulin-producing plasma cells that malignantly grow in the bone marrow. Lung cancer is one of the most common malignancies and at the advanced stage may become metastatic to the bone. Rarely, MM and lung cancer are synchronously present in the same patient.
Results: In this report, we describe five cases of MM synchronous with lung adenocarcinoma including λ light chain in three cases and ϰ light chain in two cases. Two patients achieved complete remission, and no progression was seen in two patients.
Conclusion: In conclusion, synchronous MM and lung adenocarcinoma are clinically rare, and diagnosis should be made scrupulously based on morphology, immunology, cytogenetics, molecular biology and biopsy pathology.

Combining radiotherapy with targeted therapy benefits patients with advanced epidermal growth factor receptor-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (EGFRm NSCLC). However, the optimal strategy to combine EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) with radiotherapy for maximum efficacy and minimal toxicity is still uncertain. Notably, EVs, which serve as communication mediators among tumor cells, play a crucial role in the anti-tumor immune response.

A growing body of evidence suggests that actin plays a role in nuclear architecture, genome organisation, and regulation. Our study of human lung adenocarcinoma cells demonstrates that the equilibrium between actin isoforms affects the composition of the nuclear lamina, which in turn influences nuclear stiffness and cellular behaviour. The downregulation of β-actin resulted in an increase in nuclear area, accompanied by a decrease in A-type lamins and an enhancement in lamin B2.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally, with a poor prognosis primarily due to late diagnosis and limited treatment options. This research highlights the critical demand for advanced prognostic tools by creating a model centered on aging-related genes (ARGs) to improve prediction and treatment strategies for lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). By leveraging datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), we developed a prognostic model that integrates 14 ARGs using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) alongside Cox regression analyses.

: The tumour inflammatory microenvironment (TIME) reflects a selective activation of the central immune system (IS), particularly T-cells expansion, which leads to immune cells migrating to the target, such as lung cancer, via the bloodstream and lymphatic vessels. In this study, the aim is to investigate whether the distribution of peripheral blood cells varies based on the immune status of patients with lung adenocarcinoma. : This is a single-center retrospective study conducted in the Thoracic Surgery Unit of the University of Padua (Italy) between 1 January 2016 and 1 April 2024.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second-leading cause of death among neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's disease (AD), affecting around 2% of the population. It is expected that the incidence of PD will exceed 12 million by 2040. Meanwhile, there is a recognized difference in the phenotypical expression of the disease and response to treatment between men and women.
