Ciguatoxins (CTXs) stand as the primary toxins causing ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP) and are essential compounds distinguished by their characteristic polycyclic ether structure. In a previous report, we identified the structures of product ions generated via homolytic fragmentation by assuming three charge sites in the mass spectrometry (MS)/MS spectrum of ciguatoxin-3C (CTX3C) using LC-MS. This study aims to elucidate the homolytic fragmentation of a ciguatoxin-3C congener. We assigned detailed structures of the product ions in the MS/MS spectrum of a naturally occurring ciguatoxin-3C congener, 51-hydroxyciguatoxin-3C (51-hydoxyCTX3C), employing liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry with an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) source. The introduction of a hydroxy substituent on C51 induced different fragmentation pathways, including a novel cleavage mechanism of the M ring involving the elimination of 51-OH and the formation of enol ether. Consequently, new cleavage patterns generated product ions at / 979 (CHO), 439 (CHO), 149 (CHO), 135 (CHO), and 115 (CHO). Additionally, characteristic product ions were observed at / 509 (CHO), 491 (CHO), 481 (CHO), 463 (CHO), 439 (CHO), 421 (CHO), 171 (CHO), 153 (CHO), 141 (CHO), and 123 (CHO).

The Plectranthinae clade, which includes genera such as Plectranthus, Ocimum, and Aeollanthus, is well known for its diverse array of diterpenoids. While numerous studies have deepened the understanding of diterpene diversity across the clade, Aeollanthus species remain underexplored, with only two studies focusing on their diterpene profiles. The NMR-based chemical profiling of the EtOAc leaf extract of the rocky and succulent species Aeollanthus buchnerianus Briq.

The escalating prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections has emerged as a critical global health crisis, undermining the efficacy of conventional antibiotic therapies. This pressing challenge necessitates the development of innovative strategies to combat MDR pathogens. Advances in multifunctional drug delivery systems offer promising solutions to reduce or eradicate MDR bacteria.

Malignant tumors have been a serious threat to human health with their increasing incidence. Difficulties with conventional treatments are toxicity, drug resistance, and recurrence. For this reason, non-invasive treatment modalities such as photothermal therapy (PTT), photodynamic therapy (PDT), chemodynamic therapy (CDT), and others have received much attention.

With the development of the nuclear industry, the direct discharge of uranium-containing wastewater has become increasingly harmful to the environment. A novel graphene oxide-supported and phosphoric-crosslinked chitosan gel bead (C-PGCB) with excellent uranium uptake capability was successfully fabricated to treat uranium-containing wastewater. The experimental results showed that the introduction of PO and CO bonds through phosphoric acid crosslinking could greatly improve the capturing ability of chitosan-based materials, which could reach 97.

Heavy metal ions, are non-biodegradable, high toxic tendency, and have serious hazardous effects on the health of humans. Then, removing them from the environment using different techniques is necessary. Several routes are expensive, low-efficient, and require a long time to achieve adsorption equilibrium.
