Iron-based driven chitosan quaternary ammonium salt self-gelling powder: Sealing uncontrollable bleeding and promoting wound healing.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Key Laboratory for Biobased Materials and Energy of Ministry of Education, College of Materials and Energy, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou 510642, China. Electronic address:

Uncontrollable bleeding poses a significant risk of death and cost in wars, vehicle accidents, and first aid. Hence, in order to seal uncontrollable bleeding and promote wound healing, the Fe-driven chitosan quaternary ammonium salt self-gelling powder (QPF) was prepared using 5%QCS/AA/Fe with the 52.72 % ± 0.

Ph3PC - A Monosubstituted C(0) Atom in Its Triplet State.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

TU Dortmund: Technische Universitat Dortmund, Fakultät für Chemie und Chemische Biologie, Otto-Hahn Str.6, 44227, Dortmund, GERMANY.

This study introduces a novel class of carbon-centered diradicals: a monosubstituted C-atom stabilized by a phosphine. The diradical Ph3P→C was photochemically generated from a diazophosphorus ylide precursor (Ph3PCN2) and characterized by EPR and isotope-sensitive ENDOR spectroscopy at low temperatures. Ph3P→C features an axial zero-field splitting parameter D = 0.

methylGrapher: genome-graph-based processing of DNA methylation data from whole genome bisulfite sequencing.

Nucleic Acids Res

January 2025

Department of Genetics, The Edison Family Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO 63110, USA.

Genome graphs, including the recently released draft human pangenome graph, can represent the breadth of genetic diversity and thus transcend the limits of traditional linear reference genomes. However, there are no genome-graph-compatible tools for analyzing whole genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) data. To close this gap, we introduce methylGrapher, a tool tailored for accurate DNA methylation analysis by mapping WGBS data to a genome graph.

Understanding the balance between plastic and persistent traits in the dyslexic brain is critical for developing effective interventions. This longitudinal intervention study examines the Visual Word Form Area (VWFA) in dyslexic and typical readers, exploring how this key component of the brain's reading circuitry changes with learning. We found that dyslexic readers show significant differences in VWFA presence, size, and tuning properties compared to typical readers.

Development and validation of a prognostic nomogram for predicting of patients with acute sedative-hypnotic overdose admitted to the intensive care unit.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Emergency Medicine Laboratory and the Department of Emergency, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, No. 37 Guoxue Alley, Chengdu, 610041, Sichuan, China.

To develop and evaluate a predictive model for intensive care unit (ICU) admission among patients with acute sedative-hypnotic overdose. We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients admitted to the emergency department of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, between October 11, 2009, and December 31, 2023. Patients were divided into ICU and non-ICU groups based on admission criteria including the need for blood purification therapy, organ support therapy (ventilatory support, vasoactive drugs, renal replacement therapy, artificial liver), or post-cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
